You Should Have Told Me You Don't Like Sweet Girls - Chapter 11
Chapter 11
Shi Xueqian sensed something and turned her head, seeing a note on the floor. Just as she was about to bend down to pick it up, the girl next to her got to it first, and immediately tore it up.
“Qianqian, someone must be trying to bother you. Don’t pay them any mind.”
Shi Xueqian simply nodded and went back to class.
Su Yu: ???
She took a deep breath, wrote another note, and threw it at Shi Xueqian’s other shoulder. It was a perfect throw. But the note was again picked up by the student next to Shi Xueqian and thrown directly into her personal trash can.
Su Yu clenched her fist and kept a smile on her face. She was determined. She prepared a third note, sat in a different seat to get a better angle, and with a beautiful parabolic arc, the note landed perfectly on Shi Xueqian’s desk.
“Shi Xueqian.”
The teacher at the front of the classroom happened to call on Shi Xueqian to answer a question.
Su Yu looked up and then down, and the note on the desk was already gone… She glanced at the backs of the two people on either side of Shi Xueqian and sighed. She could only prepare a fourth one.
Just then, the moment Shi Xueqian sat down, she turned her head, as if looking for something.
Their eyes met, and Su Yu immediately waved her phone.
Shi Xueqian slightly shook her head. She never looked at her phone during class.
Su Yu put her hands together and mouthed, “Please, please.”
She looked incredibly pitiful.
Seeing her take out her phone, Su Yu immediately began to type:
Senior, will you come sit with me?
Shi Xueqian: No.
Su Yu: Senior, can you bear to see me sitting alone in the back?
Shi Xueqian: You can choose to leave. This isn’t your class anyway.
Su Yu:
I won’t.
If you don’t want to come, then don’t. It feels pretty wonderful to sit here and just watch you.
You’re surrounded by people, and I can only admire you from afar. I can’t get close, but I won’t leave. I’ll work hard to break through the crowd, get to your side, and stay there.
Senior, don’t look at your phone anymore. Focus on class~

Shi Xueqian put down her phone, but she raised her hand.
Teacher: “Shi Xueqian, do you need something?”
Shi Xueqian: “Teacher, I need to go to the restroom.”
The teacher nodded.
Shi Xueqian began to pack her things. The girl next to her tried to stop her, confused. “Qianqian, why are you packing your things to go to the restroom?”
Everyone’s eyes were instantly on her.
“I don’t want to bother people to let me through on my way out,” Shi Xueqian said, pausing. “And I won’t bother them on my way back. I’ll just sit in the back.”
She quickly finished packing. Shi Xueqian took her bag and books and put them in the empty seat behind Su Yu. Then she left the classroom.
She went to the restroom, washed her hands, and splashed water on her face. Her heart, which was racing, finally calmed down.
She opened her eyes, and the mirror showed a sweet, smiling face.
Su Yu walked over and stood behind Shi Xueqian, leaning forward and resting her head on Shi Xueqian’s shoulder. “Senior, you came out for me, didn’t you?”
Shi Xueqian moved to the side, avoiding Su Yu’s head. “Don’t be so conceited.”
Su Yu lowered her head slightly, looking pitiful. “Okay, then I won’t sit next to you when I go back. I won’t bother you while you study.”
Shi Xueqian glanced at her. “That’s for the best.”
She turned and left the restroom.
She returned to the classroom, saw the backpack that wasn’t hers next to her, and a silent smile played on her lips as she sat down.
A moment later, she felt a presence next to her.
Su Yu said, surprised, “Why are my things here?”
Shi Xueqian looked at her. “I don’t know. They were here when I got back.”
Su Yu: “But I didn’t bring them here!”
Shi Xueqian played along. “Did they grow legs and walk here themselves?”
Su Yu had an epiphany. “Yes! Why didn’t I think of that? You’re so smart, senior!”
Shi Xueqian: “…Are you an idiot?”
Su Yu turned sideways, propped her head up with one hand, and looked at her with a sweet smile. “I’m willing to be your idiot, senior.”
Shi Xueqian: “I don’t like idiots.”
Su Yu: “!”
“Then I’m not an idiot! I’m super smart! You know that, senior! I got first place in my major in the college entrance exam, and my academic scores were in the top five in the province! I’m not an idiot at all!”
Shi Xueqian let out a small laugh. The sound was so quiet that the teacher’s voice completely covered it, but Su Yu, who was sitting next to her, heard it.
Su Yu froze for a moment, then immediately took out her phone and leaned in close to Shi Xueqian. The two of their faces were now in the frame.
Shi Xueqian realized what was happening and returned to her usual calm expression. “What are you doing?”
“You rarely smile, senior, and it’s even rarer for you to smile so happily because of me. I want to see it every day, so I had to take a picture. A photo can be kept forever,” Su Yu explained as she set the photo as her phone wallpaper. But then a cold voice came from next to her.
“Delete it.”
Su Yu’s fingers froze. She turned her head. Shi Xueqian’s expression was calm, but it was also colder than usual. She repeated herself. “Delete the photo.”
Su Yu froze for a second, then immediately nodded. “Okay, I’ll delete it right now. I’m sorry, I was too reckless. I should have asked for your permission first.”
After she deleted it, she held her phone up for Shi Xueqian to check.
Shi Xueqian glanced at it. “Since I didn’t take your things, I won’t kick you out. There’s no need to go to such lengths.”
Su Yu smiled. “Okay, thank you, senior. You’re the best~”
Shi Xueqian didn’t say anything else and focused on class. Su Yu sat quietly next to her, doing her own thing. The atmosphere was a little strange, but it also felt normal.
As class was about to end, Su Yu packed up her things, waiting for the bell to ring.
Shi Xueqian glanced at her out of the corner of her eye, then continued her own practice.
Ding-a-ling—
Su Yu immediately turned her head and smiled. “Senior, are we going to eat in the cafeteria or get takeout to eat in the study room?”
Shi Xueqian’s packing stopped for a moment. She had thought Su Yu would leave right after class. She shook her head, dismissing the useless thought. “What do you think?”
The unexpected question made Su Yu pause. She then realized. “I… I want to get takeout to eat in the study room.”
Shi Xueqian nodded. “Then let’s do that. Let’s go together.”
“Yay!” Su Yu jumped up happily. She pushed her luck. “Senior, can we go to the cafeteria I want to go to?”
Shi Xueqian walked out with her. “Yes, let’s go.”
Su Yu fell back two steps and put a hand over her heart to stop it from jumping out of her chest. She felt that today was definitely her lucky day. Why else would the senior be so nice to her!
Walking on campus together, going to eat together after class, they looked just like a couple!
It felt like a date!
She was so happy. Since she had met Shi Xueqian, she had imagined this very scene. She never expected it to come true so quickly.
Su Yu calmed herself down and quickened her pace to walk beside Shi Xueqian. “Senior, are you hungry right now?”
Shi Xueqian: “Not very.”
Su Yu: “That’s good. The cafeteria I want to go to is a little far. If you were hungry, we wouldn’t go.”
Su Yu: “What about time? Do you have enough time, senior?”
Sticking to her own schedule was undoubtedly the most important thing to Shi Xueqian.
Shi Xueqian: “I’m fine.”
She’s willing to break her own rules for me! This must be a sign that Shi Xueqian is opening up to me again! Su Yu’s hand, which was hanging at her side, clenched into a fist. She tried hard to control her excitement. She smiled. “Okay, then we can walk there slowly.”
Shi Xueqian: “Mhm.”
The two of them walked with their backs to the setting sun. Su Yu lowered her head and saw their two silhouettes walking side by side. She couldn’t help but smile. She subtly stretched out her hand and put it behind Shi Xueqian’s. In the shadow, it looked like they were holding hands.
Suddenly, her empty palm was filled. Shi Xueqian’s cold hand bumped into hers.
They both looked up at the same time, their eyes meeting.
The evening breeze was gentle, making their hair intertwine. The breeze could stir one’s heart, but the gaze under the setting sun was even more breathtaking.
—Shining, moving, like the sunset covering everything.
I wish time could stop at this moment… This thought flashed through Su Yu’s mind, but she quickly dismissed it herself.
She didn’t want a static moment. She wanted time to move forward. She and Shi Xueqian would get better and better.
The warmth in her palm was released before it could be fully transmitted. Shi Xueqian casually pulled up her backpack strap and put it on her shoulder. “I didn’t notice your hand. Did I hit it too hard?”
“No,” Su Yu explained. “I was sitting all afternoon, so I was just stretching.”
Two campus celebrities walking together undoubtedly added a beautiful scene to the campus. Anyone who passed them would stop and stare.
Su Yu felt proud, but she didn’t show it on her face. She kept telling herself to stay calm. She had to get the official title of being by Shi Xueqian’s side for a long time.
After dinner, Su Yu cleaned up the mess and sat on the beanbag chair, not intending to leave.
Shi Xueqian looked at her. “Aren’t you going back?”
Su Yu shook her head. “I’ll go back when you do, senior.”
Shi Xueqian: “I’ll be very late.”
Su Yu knew this, of course. Shi Xueqian stayed at the library until closing time—10:30 PM.
“That’s okay. I’ve already told my family. Someone will come pick me up then,” she said, standing up and sitting across from her. She propped her chin up with one hand and asked, even though she knew the answer, “How do you get back, senior? Do you need me to give you a ride? It’s not safe to go back alone so late.”
Shi Xueqian: “No, someone is picking me up.”
At some point, the streetlights on the campus road outside had started to turn on one by one. The moon had also climbed into the night sky, bright and clear.
Su Yu looked up. Shi Xueqian was still wearing her earphones, looking serious and focused. She glanced at her watch. It was almost 10:30. The hour hand jumped forward, and at the same time, Shi Xueqian’s phone on the desk vibrated.
Su Yu glanced at it. “You even set an alarm, senior.”
Shi Xueqian turned off the vibration on her phone and began to pack her things, just giving a faint “Mhm.”
Su Yu also began to pack her things, making casual conversation. “Do you study this late every day, senior?”
“Mhm.”
Su Yu: “Why don’t you study at home, senior?”
Shi Xueqian’s hands stopped for a moment, then went back to normal. “No reason.”
She didn’t say anything more.
Su Yu glanced at her and didn’t press further.
As they walked out of the library, they were still side by side. By now, most of the streetlights on the campus road were off, and the path wasn’t very bright.
Shi Xueqian stopped under a dark streetlight. “You don’t need to walk me.”
Su Yu: “It’s okay, I have to go to the south gate, too.”
Shi Xueqian stared at her for a moment, then took out her phone, turned around, and walked in the opposite direction while making a call. “Come pick me up at the southwest gate right now.”
Su Yu watched her back, taking a step to follow her, but she seemed to have thought of something and stepped back.
The black car drove through the night. Shi Xueqian turned her head to look at the streetlights that were speeding past outside the window. She slowly said, “Can you not tell my dad?”
The driver looked at her through the rearview mirror. He knew Shi Xueqian was talking about suddenly changing the gate she was being picked up from. He looked back at the road ahead. “I’m sorry, Miss, but I have to report it.”
