You Should Have Told Me You Don't Like Sweet Girls - Chapter 12
Chapter 12
Su Yu returned home and opened the door. Granny Yuan greeted her with a smile. “Yu Yu, are you hungry? Do you want Granny Yuan to make you some late-night snack?”
Su Yu’s parents were traveling, and her older sister had moved out after graduation. At this moment, only Su Yu and Granny Yuan were at home.
Su Yu shook her head. “Granny Yuan, I told you that you don’t have to wait for me. Go and rest. I’m going to wash up and go to bed too.”
Seeing her looking a little down, Granny Yuan asked, “What’s wrong, Yu Yu? Are you tired from studying?”
Su Yu forced a smile. “I’m fine, Granny Yuan. Be good and go to rest. Otherwise, people will think I’m mistreating you, an elder, by not letting you rest so late.”
Granny Yuan laughed. “Don’t say that. This is what I want to do.”
After seeing Granny Yuan off, Su Yu went back to her room and buried her face in the blanket.
She had been too reckless today. Shi Xueqian had just given her a little attention, and she immediately acted like she was the only person on earth, trying to pry into her family matters!
Shi Xueqian had left without even saying goodbye. Was she angry?
She should have followed her!
But because of her rash decision, Shi Xueqian had even changed the gate she was being picked up from.
Something suddenly occurred to her, and she sprang up from the bed.
Which gate did Shi Xueqian change to today? Which gate should she go to to see her tomorrow?
Su Yu ruffled her hair in frustration. She had been too impulsive. She had just managed to get a little closer to her!
It was all ruined!
No, she had to test Shi Xueqian’s attitude.
She took out her phone, thought for a moment, typed a German word, and sent it.
Su Yu: “Senior, I’m reviewing. How do you pronounce this word? Silly_chibi_girl_crying.jpg”
Su Yu stared nervously at her phone, but she didn’t get a response.
Half an hour passed.
“Maybe she just hasn’t seen it yet,” Su Yu comforted herself. “Yes, I’ll go take a shower first.”
She got up and went to the bathroom.
Halfway through her shower, she heard a ding. She immediately wrapped a towel around herself and ran out. She picked up her phone, and water dripped from her hair onto the bedsheet.
It was just a spam text.
She clicked on her chat with Shi Xueqian. Still no reply.
An hour passed.
“She must have gone to bed without looking at her phone. Right! It’s so late already.”
Ding-a-ling—
Just as she said that, her phone rang. Su Yu immediately jumped up and grabbed it. When she saw it was a message from Shi Xueqian, she bounced on the bed twice in excitement. Then, she sat up straight and took two deep breaths before opening the voice message Shi Xueqian had sent.
A cold voice came through the phone. Su Yu clenched her fists and held her heart. She played it again. She frowned, and played it one more time.
Something was wrong. Shi Xueqian’s voice was off.
Normally, Shi Xueqian’s voice was cold, but it was never as weak as it was now.
Su Yu: “Thank you, senior~ But are you not asleep yet? !!! Senior, you didn’t go home and study late into the night again, did you?”
Shi Xueqian: “No, I had some things to take care of today. I’m going to rest now.”
Su Yu was trying to think of how to get more information, but when she saw the message, she immediately replied: Okay, good night. See you tomorrow, senior.
She held her breath as she stared at the chat box.
Shi Xueqian: “See you tomorrow.”
Su Yu was so happy that she rolled around on her big bed twice.
The senior wasn’t angry!
She secretly warned herself that she absolutely could not be as impulsive as she had been today. She had to take it slow. One day, Shi Xueqian would open up to her completely!
The next day, Su Yu went to the garage and, after circling for a bit, decided on a scooter.
She arrived at the south gate of the school just in time to see Shi Xueqian walking in. She rode her scooter over, her skirt fluttering behind her, and circled Shi Xueqian once.
She looked perfectly fine.
On her second loop, she grabbed her hand directly and slowly spun her around once.
She acted normal.
She finally did a beautiful tailwhip to a stop, coolly picked up her scooter, and caught it with one hand.
Su Yu observed her face. It was noticeably paler.
“Senior, you don’t look so good. Are you okay?”
Shi Xueqian gave her a long look. “Who was it that just spun me around?”
Su Yu: “…Sorry. I was just so happy to see you so early in the morning~”
Seeing that she was looking at the scooter, Su Yu picked it up, spun it around, and said with a smile, “Senior, what do you think of my outfit today?”
She was trying to get a compliment from Shi Xueqian.
Shi Xueqian: “As long as you’re happy.”
She took a step forward. Su Yu followed her with the scooter. “You don’t like it, senior?”
Shi Xueqian: “Do my thoughts matter?”
“Of course!” Su Yu said without hesitation. “I spend so much time with you every day, senior! Of course I want to be pleasing to your eyes!”
Shi Xueqian stopped and very seriously looked at her outfit from head to toe. Her pigtails were half-braided and half-curled, hanging in front of her chest. She had on pink makeup, a blue and pink color-blocked dress, and blue and pink color-blocked flats… and a pink scooter.
In a word, every part of her radiated a sweet-girl vibe.
An eyesore. Shi Xueqian felt it was an eyesore from the bottom of her heart…
But she couldn’t even take away Su Yu’s preferences. She closed her eyes once and said, “Do you like your outfit?”
Su Yu nodded. “I love it.”
Because you like sweet girls, senior.
“Mhm,” Shi Xueqian said, forcing a slight smile. “I think it suits you very well.”
The senior smiled and complimented her!
Su Yu felt like her mood was about to fly to the heavens. She suppressed the urge to ride her scooter around in circles and smiled. “That’s good.”
They spent the day together just like yesterday, going to class with Shi Xueqian, staying in the library to memorize words with Shi Xueqian, and eating with Shi Xueqian.
Su Yu felt that this was her most ideal campus life.
She was so engrossed in her happiness that when Shi Xueqian poured the first bucket of cold water on her, she didn’t even realize it.
The unexpected happened on Thursday afternoon.
They both had a free afternoon for the first two periods, so they stayed in the study room together. Su Yu was asking Shi Xueqian to help her with a collection of difficult words.
Shi Xueqian: “You pronounced this word wrong.”
She re-taught her the pronunciation.
Su Yu stared at Shi Xueqian and quietly followed along.
It wasn’t until the third word that Su Yu realized something. She went back. “Senior, what did you say this one was?”
Shi Xueqian: “Are you spaced out?”
“No!” Su Yu said seriously. “It’s just that every time you teach me a word, I go over the previous ones, too. I just got stuck on this one. I’m sorry, I’m really dumb.”
Shi Xueqian: “You can’t rush language learning. Take it slow.”
She taught her the pronunciation again.
Su Yu quietly repeated it twice and smiled. “I see. You’re right. It’s much easier to say this way.”
She asked about another word.
Shi Xueqian’s pronunciation was still wrong.
Su Yu’s eyes darkened for a moment. She smiled. “Senior, do you know what language this word is from?”
“German. Why?” Shi Xueqian was a little confused.
“Nothing. Weren’t you just practicing Thai? I was just testing you to see if you would get them mixed up.” Su Yu didn’t call her out and continued to ask about the next word as if nothing had happened.
Shi Xueqian’s pronunciation was wrong for almost 80% of the words.
