You Should Have Told Me You Don't Like Sweet Girls - Chapter 16
Chapter 16
The slender iron needle in Xu Yan’s hand gleamed with a cold light as her fingers gently traced its length. She walked slowly toward Shi Xueqian.
“My dear Sister,” Xu Yan’s eyes curved in a smile like an angel’s as she held the needle up to Shi Xueqian. “Are you afraid of this?”
Shi Xueqian stared at the needle for a long time without answering, until Xu Yan’s patience ran out. Xu Yan grabbed her hair and yanked it back hard. “Hmm? Why won’t you talk, Sister? You were so chatty with Su Yu this afternoon, weren’t you?”
A warm breath brushed against her ear. Shi Xueqian flinched away, but was immediately pulled back by her hair.
“If you don’t talk, Sister, you won’t get your reward later. Can you really handle that?” She circled Shi Xueqian twice, then stood in front of her.
Shi Xueqian looked down and said faintly, “I’m afraid. No. We were just talking like normal classmates.”
“Oh? Is Sister really afraid?” Xu Yan lifted her chin with a finger. “I’ve already told you, Sister, not to get close to Su Yu. But what did you do?”
Shi Xueqian was forced to look up. “I didn’t get close to her.”
“Oh? So, Sister, you’re saying that Su Yu was shamelessly clinging to you? And even dragged you to her class?” Xu Yan sneered. “Sister, do you really think you’re the center of the universe and the whole world revolves around you?”
“I don’t. I just… Aah!”
A sudden, sharp pain shot through her thigh. Shi Xueqian screamed, her head snapping back as a graceful arc formed in her neck and veins popped.
“Does it hurt?” Xu Yan looked down at her.
“It hurts.”
The words were squeezed out from between her teeth. Shi Xueqian’s face twisted as if in extreme agony, but beneath it all was a sense of joy. The pain brought a rush of pleasure, her bl00d surging through her body. But with Xu Yan there, she couldn’t show her pleasure; she had to show her pain. Her beautiful, pale face crumpled, and Shi Xueqian suppressed a moan. “It hurts so much. Please stop…”
Finally, a hint of satisfaction appeared on Xu Yan’s lips. “If you knew this would happen, Sister, why did you ignore my words?”
“I,” Shi Xueqian panted, “I really didn’t get close to her. And, and… she, she probably won’t come looking for me again.”
Xu Yan’s movement stopped, and she raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “Oh? What makes you say that?”
Hiding the fact that Su Yu had confessed to her, Shi Xueqian explained how Su Yu had sought her out for German tutoring. “She didn’t pass her test today. According to what she said, she won’t come looking for me anymore.”
Xu Yan looked at her, still doubtful. “Is that all there is to it?”
Shi Xueqian nodded with difficulty.
Xu Yan: “Then what’s with everyone on the forum saying she’s chasing you? Did you secretly try to seduce her? Like your mother, the home-wrecker. Seductive wiles are probably hereditary, right?”
“No, I don’t know about any forum,” Shi Xueqian tried her best to maintain her expression. “That’s probably just a guess from the students. She isn’t chasing me.”
Xu Yan stood up and casually tossed the iron needle on the floor, where it made a soft clink. She leaned down slightly and touched Shi Xueqian’s head. “You’d better be a good girl, Sister. Even if she gets close to you, you have to stay far away from her. Do you understand?”
“If I find out you’re playing any tricks, I have plenty of ways to make you wish you were dead.”
Her handcuffs had already been unlocked. Shi Xueqian closed her eyes, her head slumped back, completely limp in the chair. She carefully savored the pleasure from the pain, feeling the feverishness of her body and the liberation of her soul that she could only feel at a time like this.
For a long time, she didn’t move.
As the pain slowly began to turn to numbness, Shi Xueqian slowly opened her eyes. She stared at the dark ceiling and mumbled, “Su Yu, the sweet girl, is good.”
This way, she didn’t have to worry about herself falling for her.
Back in her room, Shi Xueqian took her phone from her bag, found a number, and glanced at the time in the top right corner of the screen.
Forget it, it’s too late. I’ll call tomorrow.
…
Over the weekend, Su Yu was in a constant dilemma about whether she should go to the school library to find Shi Xueqian. After much thought, she couldn’t resist and went. But she waited in the library all day and never saw Shi Xueqian. On Sunday, Su Yu appeared at the school gate early in the morning, hiding and waiting, but even when the sun was high in the sky, she still didn’t see that white figure.
Luckily, on Monday, that white figure appeared at the school gate on time. Shi Xueqian got out of her private car as usual, but as she stepped out, she accidentally twisted her ankle and almost fell. Su Yu was so anxious that she almost rushed out to catch her. She took a step forward, then quickly retreated as she came to her senses.
Why does she look so pale? Was she sick over the weekend?
Just as she was thinking, the figure in front of her suddenly stopped. Su Yu quickly pulled back her foot and ducked behind a pillar. She saw Shi Xueqian standing there, taking out her phone. She seemed to have received a call, and a gentle smile slowly appeared on her lips. It was a beautiful and captivating smile, but for some reason, what Su Yu felt from that smile wasn’t joy, but desolation. It was like a beautiful flower blooming in a deserted desert. The blooming flower was life, a miracle, a beautiful and captivating presence, but the vast, desolate desert was even more impossible to ignore. At first, Su Yu felt a little jealous—jealous of the person who could make Shi Xueqian smile like that. But now, she was no longer jealous; she didn’t even want Shi Xueqian to smile. The smile made her heart ache.
The call didn’t last long. Shi Xueqian put her phone back in her bag, put her earphones back on, and started walking again. Her walking posture was just a little strange.
As she followed her to the library, Su Yu was about to step in when her phone vibrated in her pocket. It was from the “Sweetest Three Princess of the Universe.”
“Yu Yu, where are you right now?”
Su Yu: “Right in front of the library’s main entrance.”
Jiang Nianyi knew without asking why she was there and immediately stated her purpose. “All the clubs are holding their recruitment drive at the flag-raising square this afternoon. Yu Yu, you’re coming with me.” Her tone left no room for negotiation.
Su Yu glanced at the library in front of her. “Why don’t you ask Miss Qin to go with you?”
Jiang Nianyi: “Miss Qin has to be with her girl. Her girl said we should all go together, but Miss Qin refused. If you don’t go with me, I’ll tell Auntie Duan and Uncle Su that you two don’t care about me at all at school and just let me fend for myself!”
Su Yu looked up at the window and agreed. “Okay. Come to my classroom to find me after class.”
“Okay,” Jiang Nianyi emphasized. “We’ve got a deal.”
…
In the study room, Shi Xueqian was listening to a listening exercise, but her phone’s constant vibrations kept interrupting her train of thought. She picked up her phone and unlocked it to find a group message from the drama club. From the president to the heads of each department and every member, they were all uniformly @-ing her.
Shi Xueqian: What’s up?
The president immediately jumped out excitedly: Qianqian, there’s a club recruitment drive at noon. Could you please come and help?
Then everyone else followed suit, uniformly: Please.jpg
President: Qianqian, just this once, okay? Just do it as a favor for me. I don’t want the drama club to decline under my watch. Please.jpg
Planning Department member: Senior, please come and help us with recruitment, okay?
Promotion Department member: Yeah, I heard that when you joined the club back then, there was a crowd of little followers behind you. It was a huge event back then!
The previous president had told them this. The drama club’s situation had been getting worse over the past two years, and they urgently needed to recruit new members to revitalize the club’s atmosphere. Since Shi Xueqian joined, she was given a special exemption and didn’t have to participate in any club activities. She only had to participate in the shows of the club she wanted to join. As for club recruitment, she really didn’t know anything about it.
Shi Xueqian: But I don’t know anything about club recruitment. I might just be a burden to everyone if I go.
President: It’s okay! You don’t have to do anything. You just need to sit there!
Shi Xueqian lowered her hand and touched her thigh. If she just had to sit, it should be fine.
Shi Xueqian: Okay. When exactly is it?
…
The recruitment fair was bustling with people. The booths of each club were surrounded by students from various majors, and the atmosphere was lively. Jiang Nianyi pulled Su Yu through the crowd, extraordinarily excited. “We’ve basically walked into a sea of flowers!” Her gaze scanned the crowd, and Jiang Nianyi locked onto a club. She quickly pulled Su Yu over, very eager to learn more.
Su Yu saw her enthusiastically fill out three club applications and stopped her. “Are you sure you want to fill out more?” She leaned in close to her ear. “You joined the first two clubs for their looks. What are you after with this one?”
Jiang Nianyi lowered her voice. “What do you mean for their looks! I’m very interested in the art of tea! And there are a lot of pretty girls here. It’s a feast for the eyes!” What she didn’t say was that she planned to sign up Su Yu with this one.
Su Yu raised an eyebrow. “Since when were you interested in pretty girls?”
“What are you talking about? I have a deep admiration for all good-looking people!” Jiang Nianyi smiled and waved to the club members. “You should join this club with me!” With that, she reached out and took an application form, placing it in front of Su Yu.
Su Yu took the pen from her hand and pulled her out of the line. “I’ve checked it out for you. The presidents of the first and second clubs look good. If you want to fall in love, just learn more about these two and pick one. That’s all.” She didn’t expose her true intention.
“Really?” Jiang Nianyi agreed readily. “Okay, I’ll listen to you! What about you? Didn’t you find a single club you were interested in on the way here?”
Su Yu shook her head. “No. Let’s go.”
Jiang Nianyi grabbed her arm. “Where are you going? To the library?” Su Yu didn’t reply.
“Let’s look around a little more. We haven’t seen everything yet. Maybe there’s something you’re interested in!” Jiang Nianyi looked around. “How about this? Let’s go to your old home base, the drama club. How does that sound?”
Su Yu pulled her hand back. “No. We have to perform in class, and we have to perform in after-school activities. Is that a life for a person to live?”
“Are you sure? Is Senior Shi at the drama club?”
“I’m sure. I saw her. She’s sitting in their booth. I even saw people taking photos with her.”
Just then, two girls walked past them, talking excitedly. The content of their conversation fell into both of their ears. Jiang Nianyi glanced at the person beside her and immediately said, “I think you’re right. Performing in class and after class is too boring. How about we go check out the street dance club instead? You like street dance, too. Let’s go, let’s go.” She tried to pull a certain person toward the street dance club, but that person remained unmoving as a mountain.
“What’s so boring about it?” Su Yu lifted her foot and started walking in the direction of the drama club. “Learning in class and then reinforcing what you learned in a club after class. Isn’t that the best way to learn?”
