You Should Have Told Me You Don't Like Sweet Girls - Chapter 18
Chapter 18
Jiang Nianyi hadn’t noticed until only Su Yu was left in front of her. It was then she realized that the line they were in wasn’t for Shi Xueqian, but for the president. Shi Xueqian was sitting to the president’s right. As if on cue, Lu Yuanyuan happened to be standing right in front of Shi Xueqian at that moment.
Their eyes met, sparks flew, and the air seemed to rise by a few degrees. This was the opening act of the Sweet Girl War. To avoid getting caught in the crossfire, Jiang Nianyi wisely took two steps back.
Lu Yuanyuan sized Su Yu up and down and spoke first. “What’s that saying? Dong Shi imitates Xi Shi? Your current look, Miss Su, is even more shocking in person.”
Su Yu gave her a sidelong glance, unhurriedly. “Then have you heard this saying, Miss Lu? Aesthetic bias is a type of intellectual deficiency. So, I don’t blame you for not understanding my beauty.”
Jiang Nianyi, standing on the side, couldn’t hold it in and snickered.
Lu Yuanyuan gave her a quick, nonchalant look and changed the subject. “I thought we were finally going to have a proper competition this time, but it seems I was overthinking it.” Her eyes were full of certainty. Everyone present had heard Su Yu’s shout of “I’m not a lesbian” moments ago.
Without waiting for Su Yu to reply, she said to Shi Xueqian in a soft voice, “Senior, you said you’d treat me to dinner if I won first place in this competition. You know the results, right?”
Shi Xueqian hadn’t looked at Su Yu once. She just nodded faintly. “I do.”
Lu Yuanyuan’s eyes curved. “Then let’s do it tonight! I’ll text you the specific time and place.”
Shi Xueqian: “I can only eat at school in the evening.”
Lu Yuanyuan nodded thoughtfully. “Then are there any time restrictions?”
Shi Xueqian shook her head slightly.
“Great,” Lu Yuanyuan smiled. “Then I’ll decide the specific time and place. Is that okay?”
Shi Xueqian nodded. Seeing that the person in front of her wasn’t leaving, she asked, “Is there anything else?”
“I didn’t just come to say that,” Lu Yuanyuan leaned forward slightly, getting close to Shi Xueqian, and lowered her voice. “Of course, the most important reason I came here was to see you, Senior.” She gestured with her eyes to the application form in her hand. “Senior, I want this. I want to join your club, too.”
Shi Xueqian handed her an application form. Seeing that she didn’t react, Lu Yuanyuan was a little disappointed. She said, “Senior, aren’t you going to ask me why I want to join your club?”
Shi Xueqian: “Why?” She was going to ask anyway. This stage was the preliminary interview for new members, a routine question. The president had told her she only had to sit there, but she had insisted on helping.
Lu Yuanyuan: “Because of you! I already told you, Senior, I really like you! I’m not joking at all!”
This statement exploded, making the noisy scene fall completely silent. Everyone’s eyes darted back and forth between Su Yu and Lu Yuanyuan—some were enjoying the show, others were shocked…
“No wonder I felt it was so hot today. It turns out the air is mixed with gunpowder!”
“The love rivals are getting stronger and stronger. The heavens must be testing my true feelings for Senior Shi!”
“You’re so confident. I don’t even consider myself worthy to be their love rival.”
The whispers around her were completely blocked out by Su Yu. The only words in her head were what Lu Yuanyuan had said, words that a certain someone wished she could have shouted through a megaphone. She stopped holding her pen and stared directly at Shi Xueqian. She just wanted to know Shi Xueqian’s attitude.
Shi Xueqian remained apathetic, neither hot nor cold. She didn’t respond to the situation, only saying, “There are a lot of people behind you.”
Lu Yuanyuan was very understanding. “Okay, then we can talk about it more during dinner tonight.” She said the last few words slowly and deliberately, smiling at Su Yu.
The air grew thick with tension. The president saw the situation was going south and immediately jumped in, smiling. “Student Su, I know you’re in the performance major, but I don’t think joining our club will be of any benefit to you.”
“Look, you perform in class, and you’ll have to perform after class, too. That’s so boring. You should find something that’s not related to your major to enrich your extracurricular life!” His voice cracked on the last word.
The girl who had confessed to Su Yu earlier suddenly appeared out of nowhere, grabbed Shi Xueqian from behind, pinned her in a tight embrace, and held a knife to her throat. The sunlight reflected off the blade, especially bright and jarring.
The sudden turn of events made everyone scream and back away. The president stood up in a flash, protecting his club members as they retreated. Lu Yuanyuan, who was closest to Shi Xueqian, also dropped her pen and took two steps back.
Only Su Yu stood her ground, unmoving. Jiang Nianyi tugged hard on her from behind, but she was still as unmoving as a mountain.
The girl holding Shi Xueqian hostage had a crazed look in her eyes. Her voice was harsh and furious. “You said you’re not a lesbian, but isn’t Shi Xueqian a girl! Do you know what your eyes look like when you look at her?”
“Why do you like her and not me? What does she have that’s better than me?”
“Do you know how long I’ve liked you? I’ve liked you from the very first moment I saw you on a screen! The very first moment! Do you know how much courage it took for me to come and confess to you?”
“And you rejected me in front of so many people! You humiliated me!”
“I’m like this, and you’re still only looking at her! Aren’t you afraid I’ll actually kill her!”
Su Yu was indeed looking at Shi Xueqian, only because the other person’s state was too strange. There was no fear in her expression. In fact, she seemed to be enjoying it a little? Because of this, Su Yu forgot what a dangerous situation she was in.
Su Yu raised her hands and pressed them down. “Hey, calm down, calm down…”
The hostage-taker’s expression softened a little, and she showed a hint of a smile. “Student Su, you’re finally willing to look at me.” There was even a hint of shyness on her face.
Su Yu let out a slight breath, about to say something else, but Shi Xueqian cut her off. “She’s willing to look at you because she wants to save me.”
There was a collective gasp from the crowd. Everyone couldn’t understand why, in such a dangerous moment, Shi Xueqian would say something so provocative to the girl holding her.
Su Yu was stunned for a moment. It was too late for her to speak again. The hostage-taker’s expression instantly turned ferocious. She screamed, “You b1tch! You’re talking nonsense! You’re talking nonsense! I’m going to make you stop talking nonsense forever! Shut up forever!”
While screaming, she raised the dagger in her hand. In the blink of an eye, Su Yu used one hand to brace herself on the table, vaulted over it, and landed in front of Shi Xueqian. With one hand, she grabbed the downward-slashing dagger, and with the other, she pulled Shi Xueqian toward her and pushed her toward the president’s group.
The hostage-taker’s face became even more hideous. “So it’s true! You’re even willing to take a knife for her! If that’s the case, then you can both die together!”
The power that erupts from extreme anger is unpredictable. Su Yu’s wrist was instantly pushed down a significant amount, and the blade was about to pierce her skin. Just then, a figure flashed past. The hostage-taker’s hand was jolted, and her grip loosened. The dagger fell into Su Yu’s hand, and the hostage-taker was held down on the ground with one hand by Qin Shuangyuan.
Qin Shuangyuan looked up at Jiang Nianyi. “Niannian, hurry and take A’Yu to the hospital. I’ll handle things here.”
Jiang Nianyi snapped out of her shock. She immediately pulled a scarf from her bag, but when she looked up, she saw someone had already beaten her to it and was treating Su Yu’s wound. She glanced at her friend’s expression; there was no pain, only pure sweetness.
Shi Xueqian: “Student Jiang, could you please bring the car over? The wound is too big and too deep. A simple dressing won’t do. It needs stitches.”
Jiang Nianyi took off running. Fortunately, her car was parked nearby. The car arrived in under thirty seconds. She opened the door. “Yu Yu, get in quickly. I’ll take you to the hospital.”
Su Yu glanced at the car, frowning slightly. Why did she have to drive her two-seater sports car today? She subtly gave Jiang Nianyi a look, hinting at the person behind her.
Jiang Nianyi didn’t understand her at all. “What are you standing there for, Yu Yu? Hurry and get in!” She was much more anxious than the unhurried patient herself.
Su Yu gave her another look, hinting that she should suggest Shi Xueqian take her.
Jiang Nianyi: “Yu Yu, why is your eye twitching? Is your body twitching and you can’t move? I’ll come and help you.” She quickly got out of the car and went over to Su Yu. Before Su Yu could hint again, Shi Xueqian, who was standing behind Su Yu, suddenly spoke. “Student Jiang, if it’s okay, can I take Su Yu to the hospital?”
