You Should Have Told Me You Don't Like Sweet Girls - Chapter 20
Chapter 20
Shi Xueqian: The emergency kit you bought for me before is in the bookshelf next to you. Stop the bleeding first. I want to see a clean hand when I get back.
After replying, Shi Xueqian got back into the car. She grabbed Lu Yuanyuan, who had picked up some things and was about to open the car door. “Yuanyuan, I just remembered I left water boiling in the study room. Let’s go back for a bit.”
Fortunately, they weren’t far from school, so they should have enough time to go back.
Lu Yuanyuan narrowed her eyes slightly. She didn’t get out of the car, but she didn’t seem to want to go back, either.
“Senior, you were just texting someone so happily, and now you’re saying you have to go back,” she paused, then leaned closer. “Could it be that you’re going back to see someone special?”
The sun had completely set. The vibrant sunset had been replaced by the darkness of night. The car was dim, with only a few rays of light from the streetlights outside shining in, making it impossible to see their expressions clearly.
Click. The inside of the car instantly brightened like day, fully exposing both of their expressions.
Shi Xueqian looked at her with an open and honest expression. “No. I was just so happy to see you that I rushed downstairs and forgot to turn it off.”
Lu Yuanyuan pinched her chin, a smile on her lips. “Senior, you’re so good at talking. It’s hard for me to say no to your request.”
“However, if I’m willing to take you back now, shouldn’t you give me some compensation?”
Shi Xueqian didn’t move away from her closeness. “What kind of compensation do you want?”
Lu Yuanyuan’s eyes lingered on her small, rosy lips. “Are you willing to give me any kind of compensation?”
Shi Xueqian: “Within my power.”
“Then, how about you do it with me once, Senior?” Lu Yuanyuan’s fingertips slid up her cheek, savoring the soft skin warming up under her touch, her expression entranced. “I promise, I’ll make it very comfortable for you.”
“Okay,” Shi Xueqian said without hesitation.
Her directness made Lu Yuanyuan freeze for a moment. After she snapped back to reality, Lu Yuanyuan burst out laughing. “I was just kidding, Senior.”
Shi Xueqian remained calm. “I know.”
Lu Yuanyuan slowly stopped laughing. “Okay, I’ll take you back now. As for compensation…” She lightly tapped her fingers on the steering wheel. “How about you treat me to dinner two more times, besides this one? Is that okay?”
Shi Xueqian: “Okay.”
Lu Yuanyuan started the car decisively. She thought of something, turned off the engine, and said teasingly, “You won’t go back on your word, will you, Senior?”
Shi Xueqian met her gaze. “No.”
“I like beautiful and trustworthy people like you the most, Senior.”
She started the car and smoothly drove onto the main road. The drive back was only five minutes. Shi Xueqian opened her phone and saw that Su Yu had sent another photo. The gauze was off, the bl00d had been cleaned, and only the centipede-like, stitched wound was visible.
Su Yu: Senior, I cleaned it up!

Su Yu: Senior, Senior, are you on your way back? When will you get here?
As soon as the message was sent, she heard the sound of a car engine turning off downstairs. She stood up and went to the window. Shi Xueqian had already gotten out of the car and was saying something to Lu Yuanyuan at the driver’s side window. The latter nodded slightly, and at the same time, looked up.
Su Yu only moved her eyes after she saw Shi Xueqian start walking toward the library.
Their eyes met. Lu Yuanyuan still had a sweet smile on her face. She even raised her hand to wave at her, then started the car and drove away.
Su Yu raised her eyebrows slightly. Hearing the faint footsteps getting closer, she didn’t stay any longer. She went back to the desk, sat down, and awkwardly began to clean the faint trail of bl00d that had started to seep out again.
The moment the door opened, she looked up in surprise. “Senior, you’re back! That was fast!”
Shi Xueqian didn’t say anything. She took the cotton swab from Su Yu’s hand and quickly cleaned, applied medicine, and bandaged the wound. The whole process took only three minutes. Then, without a word, she pulled Su Yu up, trying to push her out of the study room.
Guessing her intention, Su Yu stood her ground. No matter how Shi Xueqian pushed, she didn’t move. Su Yu had learned how to fight. If she didn’t want to be moved, it was difficult for an average person to push her.
“Senior, are you angry?”
“No,” Shi Xueqian looked directly at her. “The wound is bandaged. I have plans, you can go back now.”
Su Yu ignored her pushing and stared at her for a moment. She raised her hands and steadily pulled Shi Xueqian into her arms. “Senior, were you scared today?”
She’s so warm.
I should push her away.
But I don’t want to.
Without waiting for Shi Xueqian to answer, she continued, “I was scared. I was really scared.”
“I wasn’t scared when I rushed out to take the knife for you. I wasn’t scared when the blade pierced my flesh. Do you know when I was most scared? When you said that thing to her.”
—She’s only willing to look at you because she wants to save me.
A simple sentence, like a bucket of ice water poured over her head, chilling her from head to toe. It was a good thing her body moved faster than her mind and managed to stop that knife in time, otherwise, she couldn’t even imagine the consequences.
“Senior, I’m really worried about you.”
Was this the second or third time Su Yu had said she was worried about her? The reason Shi Xueqian couldn’t remember was that she had never believed any of the words Su Yu said to her or any of the actions she took. She hadn’t believed any of it. She didn’t want to, and she didn’t have the strength to.
But now, the body holding her was trembling slightly. A person’s eyes could feign emotion, their actions could be staged, and their mouth could lie, but their body’s reaction could never be faked. Her heart, which had long been dead, seemed to show a glimmer of life at that moment.
Shi Xueqian slowly raised her hand, but it fell again. She said, “Su Yu, don’t like me anymore. I’m not worth it.”
Su Yu held her even tighter, as if she wanted to knead the person in her arms into her bones and bl00d. “I’m the one who likes you. Whether you’re worth it or not, I know best. Senior, will you give me a chance to prove it?”
“Will you give me a chance? The word ‘love’ is too heavy. It needs a very long time to prove. But I will prove it.”
Shi Xueqian gently pushed her away. “Go back. Be careful with your wound when you wash up.” The warmth in her arms slowly faded. Shi Xueqian hesitated for a second, then quickly returned to normal.
Su Yu looked directly at her. “Senior, if I leave here today, can I still come back to find you?”
“Don’t come back. You will never get the result you want here.”
Su Yu nodded and turned to leave.
“Wait a minute.”
Su Yu immediately stopped but didn’t turn around, waiting for Shi Xueqian’s next words.
“Leave the study room key.”
Su Yu clenched her fist, took the key out of her pocket, and walked away. She stopped at the door, turning her head slightly. “Senior, if I leave this time, I really won’t come back. Is that really okay with you?”
Shi Xueqian: “Yes. I hope you keep your word this time.”
Her figure disappeared, and the door closed.
Shi Xueqian sank into the chair, exhausted. She crushed the small sprout that had just pushed through her heart and quickly composed herself. She called Lu Yuanyuan: “I’m all set here. You can come over now.”
Jiang Nianyi and Qin Shuangyuan were playing games on the sofa. The door was pushed open without warning. They didn’t even look up. The only person who would do that was one person. It wasn’t until the person who entered remained silent for a long time that the two of them looked up at the same time.
Qin Shuangyuan raised her eyebrows slightly. “Well, look at that. Our little sweet tail Su has turned back into the cool and swaggering Ice Queen.”
Su Yu was dressed in her old style—simple, stylish, cool, and chic. The Ice Queen slumped on the sofa, staring at the gentle crystal lamp on the ceiling. “Whoever wants to be a sweet girl can be one.”
Anyway, no matter how sweet she was, Shi Xueqian wouldn’t even look at her.
The two friends looked at each other. With a silent agreement, they got up and flanked Su Yu on either side. “Oh? What happened? Tell us the details. Are you giving up this time?”
“No.” Su Yu remained slumped and motionless. Her eyes were sharp as she raised an eyebrow. “I just feel that in extraordinary times, extraordinary measures are necessary.”
In other words, she was still a hopeless romantic. The two friends instantly lost interest and were about to get up and go back to their spots.
“Did you know?”
The two friends immediately bounced back and looked at her seriously.
“I just told Senior that I would leave today and not go back. I’ll definitely keep my word.”
The two friends’ faces were serious. They nodded in agreement. “Mhm.”
“I’m not going back as a sweet girl. I’m going back as myself.”
The two friends looked at each other and were about to get up again.
“But…”
They quickly sat back down.
“I definitely won’t be as polite as I was when I was pretending to be a sweet girl.”
After finishing her heartfelt words with a straight face, Su Yu looked up and saw her two friends glaring at her like ghostly women. “What’s wrong with you two?”
Qin Shuangyuan’s voice was flat. “Just listening to your idiotic remarks.”
The two friends looked at each other. Jiang Nianyi said, “The fact that we were expecting to hear something sensible from her mouth makes us look pretty idiotic, too.”
Qin Shuangyuan looked disgusted. “Honey, you’re too hard on yourself. You even insult yourself. I’m not like that.” She quickly moved away from the two “idiots” and went back to her original spot.
Su Yu: “…”
Jiang Nianyi: “…”
Qin Shuangyuan became serious and looked at Su Yu. “How did you know you liked Senior Shi?” She asked this because her own partner had asked her the same question. She had answered, but her partner didn’t seem satisfied and was now sulking.
Su Yu leaned back against the sofa, her hands behind her head. She thought about the question seriously. After a long time, she said, “You might not believe me, but I used to say I don’t believe in love at first sight, and I still don’t. But it just happened with Senior.”
“As for how to know if you like someone, I used to think that there’s no reason to like or love someone. Her beautiful, gentle, soft-hearted, considerate, meticulous, and kind qualities are just an accessory to who she is. And her so-called flaws, like being conflicted, stubborn, and saying one thing but meaning another…”
“Are perfectly balanced by my own qualities, like being decisive, yielding, and being true to my words.”
“The two cancel each other out. What I love is her complete self. So even after falling in love with her, I still feel there’s no reason to like or love someone.”
“Do you need a reason? No. Our souls are destined to be absolutely compatible. In this life, our love, hate, and obsessions are destined to be intertwined.”
“Otherwise, why would I not fall for anyone else at first sight, and she’s the only exception?”
She looked at her two friends seriously.
Qin Shuangyuan: “I actually agree with what you said. I told my partner the same thing, but she said that when you’re in love, flaws aren’t flaws, but when you fall out of love, even virtues can become flaws. If I can’t give her a definite reason or show her with my actions, she won’t believe I truly love her.”
Su Yu shrugged slightly. “That’s easy. Just ask her the same question back. The answer she gives you is likely the answer she wants.”
Qin Shuangyuan nodded slightly. “That makes sense. I’ll ask her tomorrow.”
Jiang Nianyi brought the topic back. “Are you sure you want to show up in front of Senior with this look from now on?”
Su Yu shrugged, noncommittally. At least, that’s what she planned for now. She curled her lips into a wicked and beautiful smile. “Without a contrast, how would Senior know what a good and gentle girl the sweet me was?”
Jiang Nianyi: “Aren’t you afraid she’ll be scared of you? Have you forgotten the first time you two met?”
Su Yu: “Even if she’s scared, it’s better to have some emotion toward me than to feel nothing at all.” Even though she said that, no matter how she thought about it, Shi Xueqian’s eyes that day had nothing to do with fear.
Jiang Nianyi was silent for a moment before finally squeezing out a sentence. “I’ll say it again. If you want to cry, my shoulder is always here for you.”
Qin Shuangyuan: “My shoulder, too. But I wish you success.”
The next day, Su Yu waited at the school gate as usual. What surprised her was that when she saw Shi Xueqian, the other person was already standing there, looking at her. For a moment, she felt the same kind of desire that Shi Xueqian had hidden deep in her eyes the first time they met.
She couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow. Seeing that Shi Xueqian was just staring at her, frozen in place, she took the initiative to walk over. She leaned in, curled her lips, and said unhurriedly, “What’s wrong? Did I change my image so much that you can’t recognize me, Senior?”
It wasn’t that she didn’t recognize her. Shi Xueqian was just surprised and excited to see Su Yu like this after so long, so much so that she forgot that she was staring openly.
“Does my appearance scare you, Senior?” Su Yu smiled wickedly and leaned in even closer. “Even if you’re scared, there’s nothing you can do. This is all your fault, Senior.”
Shi Xueqian snapped out of it. She pulled her eyes off Su Yu, seemingly decisively but with great difficulty, and turned her body. “What are you here for?”
Su Yu straightened up. “I studied in your study room for a while, remember? I left something there, and I don’t want to stay in the library, so I came here to wait for you.”
“Don’t worry, Senior, I won’t go in. You can just get it for me.”
With that, she walked ahead. Shi Xueqian looked at her back and then followed. The two of them walked one after the other on the campus path. Su Yu always walked one step ahead of Shi Xueqian, and they weren’t disturbed at all along the way.
When they reached the study room door, Su Yu leaned against the doorframe leisurely, waiting for Shi Xueqian to open the door. Shi Xueqian opened the door and turned her head to ask, “Where did you put your thing?”
Su Yu slightly tilted her head to look at her, slowly curled her lips, and directly wrapped her arm around Shi Xueqian’s waist, pulling her inside. Their breaths became tangled, inches apart. Shi Xueqian was pinned against the door. Her waist was held in Su Yu’s hand, and she couldn’t move.
“Does this position, this pose, feel familiar, Senior?”
Shi Xueqian frowned slightly. “What are you doing? Let go?”
“Do you want me to let go, Senior? Weren’t you the one who was staring at the back of my head so passionately that you almost melted it?”
A hint of red slowly crept up Shi Xueqian’s earlobe. Her struggle was in vain. She held her breath and said coldly, “Don’t be narcissistic. Let go.” In two more seconds, Shi Xueqian was really afraid that she would melt in Su Yu’s arms. Last time, she could still rely on the pain of pinching her thigh and Su Yu’s sweet-girl act to regain her composure. But this time, the Su Yu in front of her was exactly what she found exciting, and the pain would only make her feel more pleasant. Her legs were already starting to give out.
“Okay, let’s not talk about that intense, unspoken passion,” Su Yu tilted her head slightly and leaned into Shi Xueqian’s ear. “Let’s settle the score. Let’s settle the score for the time you secretly kissed me, Senior.”
