You Should Have Told Me You Don't Like Sweet Girls - Chapter 3
Chapter 3
Shi Xueqian glanced around, ignored Su Yu’s words, and continued eating.
The surrounding students’ gazes were fixed on the two of them, watching their every move.
After eating her last piece of braised eggplant, Shi Xueqian picked up her tray and stood up to leave. Su Yu immediately got up to follow her, and Jiang Nianyi followed suit.
Little did the three of them know that after they left, the entire cafeteria erupted.
Shi Xueqian placed her tray in the recycling area outside the cafeteria. When she turned around, she was stopped by the person who had followed her.
Su Yu tilted her head slightly and smiled at her. “Senior, are you finished eating?”
Shi Xueqian looked at her without a word.
Su Yu immediately realized her mistake. “Oh, you probably don’t know who I am. My name is Su Yu, a freshman in the Drama Department. Senior, can we get to know each other?”
“I really, really want to get to know you.”
She extended her hand with a serious expression.
Shi Xueqian stared at her hand for a moment before extending her right hand to grasp Su Yu’s. “Junior Su, welcome to Nanbai University.”
With that, she let go and walked around her.
Su Yu: ???
She was stunned for a second, then reached out and grabbed Shi Xueqian’s hand again. She took two steps back and stood in front of her, her lips slightly pouting as if she were hurt. “Senior, don’t you want to know why I want to get to know you?”
“You do, don’t you~”
She swayed their joined hands slightly, her voice soft.
Jiang Nianyi’s eyes widened in shock. Was her friend actually pouting and acting cutesy? To someone who had already rejected her twice?
“No,” Shi Xueqian said, trying to pull her hand back. As her hand came loose, she paused for a second and then tightened her grip. “No matter what you want to say, I’d suggest you focus on your studies instead.”
“But the moment I saw you, I couldn’t focus on anything else! Don’t worry, though, I won’t let it affect my studies. Can you just give me a chance?” Su Yu’s eyes were full of sincerity.
Shi Xueqian looked up, equally serious. “Thank you for the compliment, but I’m not interested. Don’t bother me.”
Su Yu stood alone. A gust of wind blew a few fallen leaves, sending them scattering in different directions.
Jiang Nianyi walked over and lightly patted her friend on the shoulder. “You tried. Now it’s time to give up, right?”
“No, you have to treat an illness with the right medicine, and you have to pursue someone in the way that works for them. My approach was just wrong.” Su Yu looked up, her neat bangs fluttering in the wind. A confident smile spread across her face. “Give up? We’ve only just started! Didn’t I tell you? She’s the only one for me.”
She turned and began to walk down the path Shi Xueqian had taken.
Jiang Nianyi followed her. “Where are you going now?”
Su Yu walked quickly, but when she saw Shi Xueqian’s back, she slowed down and lowered her voice. “What else? I’m going to get to know my future wife’s movements.”
Jiang Nianyi: “Only you could make stalking sound so refreshing. I shouldn’t be surprised.”
“What can I do? You saw it yourself. The direct approach didn’t work, so I have to go with the sneaky one for now.” Su Yu followed slowly behind Shi Xueqian. “I spent so many days waiting for her. I need to at least figure out where to find her.”
They wove through the campus. Su Yu followed her all the way to the library.
Jiang Nianyi: “The library again. Do all academic stars love living in the library?”
Su Yu made a “hush” gesture, telling her to be quiet and follow.
The two followed her all the way to the sixth floor. After Shi Xueqian entered a private study room, Jiang Nianyi whispered, “Isn’t this the study room you went to last time? Was she in there that day?”
Su Yu shook her head. She didn’t know. That day, she hadn’t heard any movement from inside. But if the senior had been in there, why didn’t she respond? Did she know it was her? Was she doing it on purpose?
She suddenly remembered their first meeting. Could it be… that the image of her teaching that scumbag a lesson had scared her off?
And Shi Xueqian’s slightly trembling hands in the cafeteria, despite her calm demeanor…
“Senior Shi… is she afraid of you?” Jiang Nianyi seemed to have the same thought. She immediately dismissed it. If that were the case, wouldn’t she be the culprit? “Maybe she just left the library that day and wasn’t in there at all. We’ll have to keep observing.”
At this point, there was no other choice.
Inside the study room, Shi Xueqian sat in the shade, slowly unclenching her right hand. She brought it closer to her face and sniffed. It still had Su Yu’s scent—a unique mix of fragrance and sweetness.
The news that Su Yu was waiting for someone at the Foreign Languages Department had spread throughout the school on the very first day. It was impossible for Shi Xueqian not to have heard about it. She knew everyone was discussing how Su Yu’s crush was in the Foreign Languages Department and that she came every day to wait for them.
She was curious about what kind of person Su Yu would like, so she had secretly tried to catch a glimpse a few times, but it was always to no avail.
Until today, when she had a completely unexpected thought.
Could it be that the person Su Yu was waiting for… was her?
The facts proved it.
“She likes me.”
“It’s me.”
She suppressed her urge to laugh wildly. She looked at her right hand with adoration. The mere thought of this possibility made her incredibly excited, so how much more exhilarating was the reality? The feeling of her bl00d flowing freely through her veins and her heart beating normally, without any pain, was so wonderful.
It was almost 3:00 PM, and Su Yu had a class at three. She looked up at the study room. Shi Xueqian hadn’t come out once. She took out a white piece of paper, quickly drew a simple sketch, left a message, folded the paper, and slid it under the door of Shi Xueqian’s study room.
Shi Xueqian looked up when she heard a tapping sound and saw the paper slide under the door. She got up and picked it up.
After reading the message, a slight smile appeared on her lips. She stood and walked to the window. She saw Su Yu’s figure below and whispered, “Su Yu, let me be able to see you forever.”
Unexpectedly, Su Yu didn’t come looking for her again.
What she didn’t know was that Su Yu was still always nearby.
The library became Su Yu’s base. Whenever she didn’t have a class, she would be there, keeping an eye on Shi Xueqian’s movements without ever approaching her.
She had enough patience. For two whole weeks, Su Yu completely mapped out all of Shi Xueqian’s campus routes: classroom building, staff office building, library, library, staff office, classroom building…
A completely simple and mundane two-point, three-line campus life.
This Friday afternoon, Shi Xueqian was still at the library. Su Yu was also in her usual spot, doing her homework.
The door in her peripheral vision opened. Su Yu immediately looked up and saw Shi Xueqian coming out with her backpack.
Was she leaving?
Su Yu looked at her watch. It wasn’t even 3:00 PM yet. Where was she going so early?
She packed her things and followed. As soon as she walked out of the library, she saw a girl with a sweet-looking face, a floral sundress, and her hair in a single braid with various small flowers in it, linking arms with Shi Xueqian.
Su Yu: ???
Where did this woman come from?
Just as she was about to go over, someone grabbed her arm from behind. She turned and saw Jiang Nianyi, who was out of breath and holding her waist. “I have bombshell news about Senior Shi.”
Su Yu pointed at the sweet-looking figure in front of her. “Are you talking about her?”
Jiang Nianyi looked closely at the back of the person. “That’s right! It’s Lu Yuanyuan! The ‘sweetheart killer’ and collector of cool seniors!”
Su, Lu, Qin, Qi, and Jiang were the five great noble families of Yun City. The Su, Qin, and Jiang families were close, but the Su and Lu families had been vying for the title of Yun City’s top noble family for years. The Lu family, however, had never won. Therefore, Lu Yuanyuan and Su Yu’s relationship was very delicate.
“She’s not even that sweet,” Jiang Nianyi said with disdain. “If Senior Shi likes her, she might as well like me.”
Su Yu shot her a glare.
Jiang Nianyi immediately backed down. “I’m just kidding! You know I like guys.” She quickly changed the subject. “You probably don’t know, but the school forums are going crazy. By now, the whole school probably knows. Senior Shi likes sweet girls!”
She took out her phone, opened the forum, and clicked on the post titled “#SUPER MASSIVE BOMBSHELL NEWS! Goddess Shi likes sweet girls!#”
“Look at these pictures! High-definition, 360-degree views!”
1st Floor: Sobbing Goddess, this is the first time I’ve seen her smile. She’s so beautiful!
2nd Floor: I just burst into tears. How can you smile at someone else, my wife?!
3rd Floor: I finally know my wife’s type! Sweetheart transformation plan, activated!
“Senior Shi’s smile is so pretty. It’s completely different from her usual expression. It’s like ‘the snow on the mountain has melted, and spring has arrived.’ You know? It’s like the whole world has become beautiful.”
The person in the photos was indeed smiling brightly. And the Su Yu outside of the photos… her face was getting darker and darker.
Jiang Nianyi was about to say something else, but when she saw her friend’s expression, she wisely shut up.
“She’s a beauty.” A voice like a cold spring rang out behind them.
Jiang Nianyi turned around in surprise. With Korean-style black waves and a signature black-and-white custom outfit, who else could it be but Qin Shuangyuan! She pounced on her as if she had found a savior. “Shuangshuang, you really came!”
“Didn’t you say someone might go crazy and that I needed to come to the rescue?” Qin Shuangyuan said with a straight face, lowering her voice.
Jiang Nianyi also lowered her voice. “Yes, you have to be here! Look at Yu Yu. Her face is as black as coal! I definitely can’t stop her myself!”
“Honey, Shi Xueqian likes sweet girls,” Qin Shuangyuan said, looking Su Yu up and down with a regretful expression. “Someone like you, clearly has no chance.”
Jiang Nianyi gasped and tugged on Qin Shuangyuan’s sleeve. “Sister, I called you here to manage the situation, not to add fuel to the fire!”
“We need to make our friend realize the truth immediately! The deeper you fall into something like this, the more pain you’ll be in,” Qin Shuangyuan said calmly. “Cutting your losses is the only truth.”
Jiang Nianyi nodded in agreement, then remembered something and shook her head. “It can’t be stopped.”
Sure enough, the next moment, Su Yu threw her phone to Jiang Nianyi, a confident smile on her face as her hair swayed in the breeze. “So what if she likes sweet girls? Who says I can’t be sweet?”
