You Should Have Told Me You Don't Like Sweet Girls - Chapter 31
Chapter 31
Su Yu sat on the sofa with her arms crossed, staring silently at the person opposite her.
Jiang Nianyi felt she was innocent, no, extremely innocent.
Su Yu lazily lowered her eyes. “When did you get senior’s contact information?”
“I didn’t,” Jiang Nianyi shook her head like a rattle. “Senior suddenly messaged me today and asked me to send your private jet to pick you both up.”
Su Yu narrowed her eyes slightly. “You believed her just because she said she was Shi Xueqian?”
“Of course not,” Jiang Nianyi stood up from the sofa with a look of someone whose intelligence had been questioned. “Am I that easy to fool?”
“Aren’t you?” Su Yu asked calmly.
“You, I…” Jiang Nianyi deflated and threw her phone over. “See for yourself why I confirmed it was Shi Xueqian.”
Su Yu didn’t hesitate. She picked up the phone and unlocked it. “Where did you two chat, and what’s the name you saved her as?”
“WeChat, Senior Shi.”
She found the chat history. The beginning was exactly as Jiang Nianyi had said. Shi Xueqian directly gave her name and asked Jiang Nianyi to send a private jet to pick them up. Jiang Nianyi expressed her doubt, so Shi Xueqian sent her a video – Su Yu standing in front of a half-finished building.
Jiang Nianyi’s face was full of pride, as if to say, “I’m not a little idiot.” Besides, she was sending a real private jet that could fly in the sky, not some toy plane.
If there wasn’t enough evidence to prove it, would she just send it?
“Didn’t you see? Senior Shi even said she wanted to come back with you. That’s why I immediately dropped what I was doing and sent the plane. Who knew she was just trying to get you to come back alone?”
“If I had known, I would have sent two more people to tie you both up and throw you on the plane.”
Her face was written with “See? I’ve been wronged.” She was truly innocent.
Shi Xueqian’s last message was three words – I’m sorry.
The time was after Su Yu had boarded the plane.
Jiang Nianyi replied with a bunch of question marks and asked what she was sorry for, but Shi Xueqian never replied.
Su Yu sighed. She couldn’t blame Jiang Nianyi for this. The only person to blame was her senior, who was too smart.
She opened the video and looked at it. The background of the half-finished building still gave her a persistent feeling of familiarity.
She motioned for Jiang Nianyi to come over. “Do you remember this half-finished building? Have we been there before?”
“We’ve been there?” Jiang Nianyi stared at the video, her mind racing. She shook her head confidently. “No, we haven’t.”
Su Yu asked again, “Are these kinds of buildings common?”
Jiang Nianyi didn’t give a definite answer. “In our circles, it’s probably rare?”
If Su Yu hadn’t shown her this, she might never have seen such a building in her life.
When Shi Xueqian said this building was common, Su Yu was also thinking about this issue. In her social circle, she would never see such a building.
“But now that you mention it, I think I have seen something like this before?” Jiang Nianyi frowned and thought for a moment, then sighed. “I can’t remember.”
“Is this important?”
Su Yu stared at the half-finished building and said honestly, “I don’t know. It feels important, but it also feels unimportant.”
She stopped dwelling on it and changed the subject. “How’s the investigation on the grandmother?”
“Grandmother?” Jiang Nianyi didn’t react for a moment.
“Senior’s grandmother.”
“Oh, right,” Jiang Nianyi realized. “The investigation is still ongoing. There should be some news tomorrow. Don’t worry, I’ll let you know as soon as I hear anything.”
The Xu family villa.
When Shi Xueqian returned to her room, she realized something was wrong. She heard a click behind her, and the door was locked.
Footsteps came from behind her. Soon, she heard a light chuckle near her ear. “Long time no see, my dear little sister.”
—It was Xu Heng’s voice.
With a click, the room was instantly as bright as day.
Shi Xueqian froze in place. A sharp warning sounded in her body, but she couldn’t move, like a robot that had malfunctioned.
As if knowing her predicament, Xu Heng didn’t get angry at all. He slowly walked up to her. When he saw her from the front, his eyes lit up, and the corners of his lips lifted. “After three years, little sister has become even more beautiful.”
Shi Xueqian slowly moved her gaze to him without saying anything.
The person in front of her was wearing a well-tailored suit, like a well-mannered gentleman. But she was the only one who knew what a hypocritical beast he was.
No, the Xu family and his friends knew as well. They just didn’t care. Instead, they would join in and have fun, because she was the only one who would get hurt.
Her brain seemed to have turned into an old-fashioned movie player, replaying the scenes of being abused by this person over and over again. Cold sweat slowly dripped from her forehead.
Xu Heng nonchalantly walked to her bed and sat down, acting as if he owned the place. He narrowed his eyes slightly. “What’s wrong, Qianqian? You don’t recognize me?”
“I do,” Shi Xueqian squeezed the words out of her throat with great difficulty. “Brother Heng.”
Unlike Xu Yan, who told her she couldn’t call her sister, Xu Heng demanded that she call him “brother” and that she had to say it sweetly, or she would be punished.
Xu Heng nodded in satisfaction, and the curve of his lips widened. He stood up and walked in front of her. With one hand in his pocket, he put the other on the back of her neck and squeezed it. “I heard you went to see your grandmother?”
Shi Xueqian: “Mm.”
Xu Heng walked around her, his hand never leaving her shoulder. “Why did you choose the day I came back to see your grandmother? I’m a little sad, little sister. What should we do?”
His breath landed on her ear. Shi Xueqian felt as if that half of her body had gone numb, as if her limbs weren’t her own. But when she heard the word “grandmother,” her body slowly started to warm up.
That cute old lady.
Yes, everything was about to end.
She wasn’t even afraid of death, so why should she be afraid of the things that had already passed and existed only in her memory? And why should she be afraid of this person behind her?
When Shi Xueqian was first taken back to the Xu family, she had tried to resist. She tried to fight back, give them the silent treatment, and demanded to go back to her grandmother’s house… she tried everything.
But without exception, she failed.
No matter how she resisted, the only thing she got in return was deeper pain each time.
“Do you want me to let your grandmother feel what you have felt?”
This one sentence ended all of Shi Xueqian’s resistance. She became obedient, submissive, lifeless, a walking corpse…
Now, all of this would soon, very soon, disappear.
Everything would disappear.
She no longer needed to be afraid.
Shi Xueqian was finally able to control her body. She took a few steps forward, put her bag on the side of the bed, and started tidying up her things. “Do whatever you want.”
There was no sweet nickname, no good attitude. Shi Xueqian expected to be grabbed by her hair and slammed into the wall.
But nothing happened.
Instead, Xu Heng let out a few very amused chuckles. His gaze swept over Shi Xueqian’s back, a faint smile on his lips. “After a few years, little sister’s coldness has become even more charming.”
“I don’t have time to play with you today. Be a good girl, and I’ll come back for you.”
The lock clicked three times, and the room returned to silence.
Shi Xueqian didn’t take his words to heart. She confirmed that he had left and put the miniature pinhole camera hidden in the bottom of her closet into the secret compartment of her backpack.
She could use it after her performance tomorrow.
Everything would end tomorrow night.
She would leave a suicide note and ask Su Yu to give it to her grandmother. Would she be willing to do that?
Thinking this, Shi Xueqian began to write her suicide note.
The next morning, as Shi Xueqian walked out of her room, she happened to run into Xu Heng, who had just returned from outside. She stood to the side, waiting for him to pass, but he grabbed her hand and pinned her against the wall.
The heavy smell of alcohol sprayed on her cheek and neck. Xu Heng’s eyes were blurred. “The women outside are all cheap whores. My little sister is fresh and tempting.”
Shi Xueqian tried to push him away, but he leaned in even closer. She could only turn her face away. “You’re drunk.”
“No, Qianqian. I’m very sober,” Xu Heng wrapped a strand of her hair around his finger. “Qianqian, it must be hard living in the Xu family, right? I’ll give you a chance at happiness. Do you want it?”
“No.”
Xu Heng wasn’t angry at all. He chuckled. “I haven’t even told you what it is yet. Don’t be so quick to refuse, little sister.”
“No matter what it is, I don’t want it.” Shi Xueqian’s voice was cold and flat.
She didn’t want anything given by the Xu family.
“If little sister is so resolute,” Xu Heng raised his hand and gripped her neck, his fingertips gently stroking it. “Then I want to make you know what it is even more.”
“In the future, the entire Xu family will be mine,” Xu Heng’s voice paused slightly, a hint of pride in his tone. “How about you become my mistress, little sister? If you agree, I can guarantee that you’ll live a more comfortable life than anyone else in the Xu family.”
“I will definitely take good care of you, little sister.”
“What are you two doing?”
Xu Zhicheng’s voice suddenly boomed beside them. Xu Heng’s body froze for a second. He quickly adjusted his posture, swayed his head against the wall, and turned around unsteadily. “Dad? You’re awake?”
He smiled, a playful and seductive smile. He explained, “I was drunk and asked Qianqian to help me. But she’s a little weak and couldn’t hold me up, and I can’t walk straight…”
Xu Zhicheng didn’t say anything. He just gave Shi Xueqian a look. “What are you standing there for? Aren’t you going to school?”
Shi Xueqian responded and left.
Watching her back disappear down the hallway, Xu Heng yawned and said lazily, “Dad, if there’s nothing else, I’m going back to my room to sleep.”
“Stop right there.” Xu Zhicheng’s voice was angry. “Look at you. You just came back and you’re already out all night. Do you even remember that you’re starting at the company next week?”
Xu Heng grinned. “Of course I do. That’s why my friends and I wanted to have some fun while I’m still completely free. Don’t worry, Dad. Once I start at the company, I’ll put away my playful heart, turn over a new leaf, work hard, and help you make our company bigger and stronger!”
Hearing this, Xu Zhicheng’s expression softened. “You need to be more careful. Don’t set your sights on your half-sister. She’s a key pawn for our company to become bigger and stronger. Do you understand?”
Xu Heng narrowed his eyes slightly. A key pawn? He never knew that Xu Zhicheng took her back to use her? He naively thought that Xu Zhicheng had some affection for his own bl00d…
Right. If Xu Zhicheng had any affection, he wouldn’t have let them torment Shi Xueqian.
He was too naive. He chuckled and nodded. “Yes, Dad. I’ll listen to you.”
Xu Zhicheng nodded in satisfaction and added another warning. “Behave yourself. Don’t act like you’re not a person.”
Shi Xueqian arrived at school and saw Su Yu standing in the same old spot. Her sweet outfit and tall figure made her the most beautiful sight on campus.
Su Yu looked up and saw her. She didn’t skate towards her like a gust of wind as she usually did. Instead, she just gave her a pitiful look and then looked away.
She’s kind of cute.
For some reason, the annoyance that Xu Heng had caused suddenly disappeared.
Shi Xueqian pretended not to see her and walked straight past her. She walked ahead and looked back out of the corner of her eye, seeing that Su Yu had indeed followed her.
She slowed her pace, and Su Yu slowed hers.
She walked a little faster, and Su Yu also sped up.
But she still wouldn’t come up and walk side by side with her.
She had to go to the drama club for a final rehearsal, then to the performance venue – the South 100 Auditorium – for a dress rehearsal. The official welcoming party would be in the afternoon.
The rehearsal at the drama club went smoothly without any problems. Everyone left for the auditorium.
Even though Su Yu was intentionally bickering with her, the rehearsal went without a hitch. The two protagonists’ scenes were smooth and natural. The dress rehearsal also went very well, making the supervising teacher tear up.
To show their sincere welcome to the new students, the school announced that all classes on Monday afternoon were canceled. The students excitedly arrived at the auditorium to watch the performances.
Half an hour before the show was about to start, the auditorium was already packed. The students helping to maintain order were sweating profusely.
Backstage, a student from the school’s student journalism department was conducting interviews. After a brief interview with the president of the drama club, the journalist asked about the two main actors of the play. Su Yu and Shi Xueqian were pulled in front of the camera.
The journalist’s eyes lit up. She secretly gestured for the student with the camera to take pictures quickly. After all, this rare opportunity to have the two goddesses of the school in one frame didn’t happen every day.
The journalist first asked some simple questions about the show, then shifted the topic to personal questions. “Senior Shi, in everyone’s mind, you’re the untouchable, unapproachable, and inarticulate goddess. Why did you join a drama club that requires acting and a lot of lines, which is a club that requires speaking skills?”
Shi Xueqian answered truthfully. “Not being articulate doesn’t mean I don’t have good speaking skills. Most of the time, I just don’t want to express myself unless it’s necessary.”
The journalist belatedly realized that the senior in front of her was a legend at the school. She was studying three foreign languages at the same time, was the top student in every subject, and had won many gold medals for the school in various language competitions. It was no surprise that Shi Xueqian’s name would be forever on the honor roll of South 100 University.
Moreover, she suddenly remembered that she had seen Shi Xueqian compete for the school in an international debate competition. At that time, she was a one-woman show. Even though there were eleven people on stage, including the host, everyone’s attention was drawn to her. She was like a walking spotlight.
“Senior, you’re right. My understanding was too narrow,” the journalist said quickly. “Then why did you join the drama club? Is it because you like acting?”
Shi Xueqian didn’t answer immediately, as if she was choosing her words carefully. After a moment, she slowly said, “Because acting can bring me a good sense of relaxation.”
“Relaxation?” The journalist was surprised. “But from what I know, acting is not easy. You have to study the characters, memorize lines, and different characters require different emotional consumption. Isn’t that a stressful thing to do? Also, if you like acting, why didn’t you major in it?”
Shi Xueqian didn’t explain further and just said, “Everything is different for everyone.”
The student journalist agreed. Seeing that she didn’t want to say more, she didn’t ask further questions. She thanked her and handed the microphone to Su Yu, but the person in front of her didn’t react at all.
“Su Yu, are you there?”
Su Yu came back to her senses and gave the camera a smile that could kill. “I’m sorry, I was just spacing out.”
The journalist understood and asked her the same question as Shi Xueqian.
—Why did you choose to join the drama club?
“Since you’re studying acting and also participating in the drama club, don’t you feel that your campus life is repetitive and boring?”
“No, because I really enjoy acting.”
Student journalist: “Why do you like acting, Su Yu?”
Su Yu: “Because I want to experience different lives. I really enjoy bringing a character to life. And in turn, each character adds a different kind of excitement to my life. It’s a very subtle and charming feeling.”
“Is this the chemistry between partners?” The student journalist smiled. “I feel like your answers are similar.”
Similar? No, Su Yu’s gaze shifted to Shi Xueqian. The look in her eyes was complicated. They were completely different.
Her and Shi Xueqian’s mindset and purpose for liking acting were completely different.
The journalist then asked about their experience working together. They both gave very official and polite answers.
Student journalist: “We’re very much looking forward to your performance later. Good luck!”
Su Yu winked at the camera. “Everyone, you can look forward to it~”
The student journalist faced the camera. “Students, let’s wait and see~”
With that, she said goodbye to the two of them and went to interview other performers.
As the host’s passionate speech ended, the welcome party officially began.
The drama club’s performance was the tenth on the list.
As the performances went on, the backstage became busier and busier, with more and more people. They were touching up their makeup, going over their scripts, and working out the details of the show…
Shi Xueqian sat with the members of the club. For some reason, she felt someone was staring at her. She looked over at Su Yu, who wasn’t sitting with them. Instead, she was standing in a corner, her long legs planted on the ground, leaning leisurely against the wall. Unlike her relaxed posture, her expression was very serious. She was staring at her phone, with no sign of looking over at her.
Again and again, a fiery gaze stuck to her back.
Shi Xueqian still subconsciously looked at Su Yu. This time, the latter looked up and raised her eyebrows slightly in confusion.
Shi Xueqian calmly looked away and scanned her surroundings. Everyone was busy and had no time to look at her.
But she was confident that her feeling was not wrong. Someone was indeed staring at her, but they were hiding in the dark.
Before she could carefully examine the corner, a white, slender hand rested on her wrist. She looked up and saw Su Yu give her a harmless smile. “Senior, I feel like there’s a detail in the script I need to discuss with you. Please come with me.”
Ignoring everyone’s stares and Shi Xueqian’s reaction, she forcefully pulled her away.
Su Yu pulled her into the backstage prop room. The props were scattered in a chaotic mess, as if the room had just been ransacked. It was because of this that Su Yu was sure that no one would come here.
She locked the door and pressed Shi Xueqian against it, her posture domineering. “Since you’re not going to talk to me on your own, why have you been secretly looking at me?”
Shi Xueqian’s expression was calm. “I wasn’t secretly looking at you.”
She was just looking for the person who was staring at her.
As for not talking to Su Yu, she wanted to wait until after the performance, call Su Yu to her study room, and properly coax her.
Su Yu’s fingertips traced Shi Xueqian’s chin, and she lowered her voice. “You weren’t secretly looking at me? Then who was it that I caught?”
Shi Xueqian said honestly, “I was looking for someone.”
“I know, senior. You were looking for me,” Su Yu lifted her chin. “Are you looking for me to tell me something?”
Shi Xueqian: “…Stop it. The show’s about to start.”
“I’m not stopping,” Su Yu buried her head in Shi Xueqian’s neck and rubbed it, her voice extremely wronged. “Senior, I’m very unhappy. Is it that hard for you to coax me?”
Shi Xueqian used one finger to hold her head still. “I did coax you.”
Su Yu: “…”
She remembered. Shi Xueqian did coax her. On the night they slept together at her grandmother’s house, her senior didn’t hesitate to take off her clothes to coax her, but she didn’t accept the offer…
But it wasn’t because she didn’t want to accept it. It was because she saw that Shi Xueqian was very tired. She just wanted her senior to have a good night’s sleep. It wouldn’t be too late to ask for compensation after she woke up. Unfortunately, they were interrupted by her grandmother.
Su Yu took her hand, brought it to her lips, and kissed it. She was being completely unreasonable. “I don’t care.”
The warm lips on the cold back of her hand caused shivers. Shi Xueqian tried to pull her hand back, but it was no use. She said, “After the performance, when we get back to the study room.”
“I don’t want to wait.”
Su Yu guided her hand to unbutton the top two buttons of her shirt. She pulled down the collar, revealing the smooth lines of her collarbone. She tilted her head and bit down, and two pink rows of teeth marks quickly appeared on the white skin.
Shi Xueqian let out a muffled groan and tilted her head back, exposing her entire white neck to the predator.
For the sake of the role, Shi Xueqian and Su Yu were wearing the same school uniform – a white shirt and a plaid skirt. It was a very common outfit. Su Yu felt it was common on herself, but on Shi Xueqian, it was anything but common.
On the way to the auditorium, Su Yu had already seen several people stare at Shi Xueqian and either lose their balance and bump into someone or crash into a pillar…
Her teeth had been itching for a while.
She really wanted to cover the person in her arms with marks and let everyone know that Shi Xueqian belonged to her and only to her.
The warm breath quickly spread to her neck. Shi Xueqian raised her hand and pressed down on Su Yu’s head. “Don’t bite here. We have a performance soon.”
“Then where can I bite?” Her nose rubbed against Shi Xueqian’s neck, and her leg wedged between her thighs. Su Yu stood on her toes slightly. “Can I bite here?”
