You Should Have Told Me You Don't Like Sweet Girls - Chapter 33
Chapter 33
Su Yu was held by Jiang Nianyi as she wailed. When she finally managed to pry her off, she looked around and didn’t see Shi Xueqian.
Qin Shuangyuan: “I saw her leave secretly, but according to what you told me before, I’ve had someone follow her to ensure her safety. I’ve sent the bodyguard’s phone number to your phone. You can ask her anything directly, but I’ve already told her what she needs to know.”
Su Yu blew her a kiss. “My Qin family’s eldest daughter is the most reliable.”
Qin Shuangyuan raised her hand and swatted the air, batting away her kiss. “That’s disgusting.”
Su Yu didn’t back down. Instead, she blew her two more.
“Senior probably went back to her study room,” Su Yu said, taking out her phone to call Shi Xueqian.
The phone rang until it stopped naturally, but no one answered.
Su Yu frowned slightly and called again. This time, the other person’s phone was turned off.
“Is her phone dead?” she muttered, putting away her phone and saying goodbye to the club members. She left the venue with Qin Shuangyuan and Jiang Nianyi.
Su Yu: “I’m going to the library to find senior. What about you two?”
Qin Shuangyuan: “I’m going to find my senior, too.”
Jiang Nianyi pretended to kick both of them. “You two are so obsessed with your lovers you forget your friends.”
Su Yu and Qin Shuangyuan looked at each other, their eyes filled with a faint smile, and said in unison, “Hehe, this is karma.”
When Jiang Nianyi was in a relationship, she would often abandon them to go on dates. Now, it was just the cycle of cause and effect.
Jiang Nianyi glared at them, crossed her arms, and walked proudly ahead, leaving them behind.
Qin Shuangyuan said hello to Su Yu and followed Jiang Nianyi. She wasn’t just doing it to console her. They were going the same way, so she might as well comfort her.
After all, Jiang Nianyi was their “Third Princess.”
Su Yu rode her skateboard, flying as if on the wind, and reached the library in just ten minutes.
Seeing that the elevator was on the sixth floor, she gave up waiting and ran up to the sixth floor. She symbolically knocked on the door of Shi Xueqian’s study room.
No response.
She used the key to open the door. It was empty.
She put down her skateboard and took out her phone. It rang right on cue.
“A-Yuan, what’s wrong?”
Qin Shuangyuan’s voice was unusually urgent. “Where are you? Did you get to the library? Is senior in the library?”
Su Yu didn’t know why, but she had a very bad feeling. “I’m in senior’s study room. She’s not here. Did something happen to her?”
Her intuition was always right.
Qin Shuangyuan: “The bodyguard who was following senior just called me. She said she was knocked out while following her. When she woke up, she immediately called me and said there was a white cloth with chloroform on the grass. But the person knocked her out directly, so the chloroform might have been used on senior…” Qin Shuangyuan paused slightly. “I’ll be at the library soon. Come down, and we’ll go to the scene.”
The three of them quickly arrived at the scene. The female bodyguard handed the white cloth with chloroform to Su Yu and briefly described her last memory. “That person seemed very professional. She was following Miss Shi for half the way with me, and I didn’t notice her at all.”
The female bodyguard lowered her head and apologized. “I’m sorry. I failed in my duty.”
Su Yu had only hired the bodyguard today, but the person had been able to get rid of the bodyguard before going after Shi Xueqian. This was clearly not a spur-of-the-moment thing, but a premeditated attack.
There was nothing left at the scene except for the white cloth. The three of them got back into the car.
Jiang Nianyi frowned. “What do we do now? Where do we look?”
The current situation was like looking for a needle in a haystack.
“We look. We call the police. We contact the bodyguard company. I want a carpet search, inch by inch,” Su Yu said, her eyes as cold as ice. “Even if we have to turn over the entire Cloud City, we have to find her.”
Qin Shuangyuan and Jiang Nianyi looked at each other and said in unison, “Okay, we’ll help you.”
Qin Shuangyuan started to contact the bodyguard company, and Jiang Nianyi was in charge of calling the police. Just then, Su Yu’s phone rang.
“It’s senior.”
The two people on the phone stopped talking and asked the people on the other end to wait. They both looked at Su Yu.
Su Yu answered the call. A loud, concentrated burst of music came from the phone, as if it went straight through her eardrums, numbing half of her body. Her head buzzed, and her vision went black.
The loud music instantly filled the entire car.
Qin Shuangyuan reacted quickly. She lowered the car window with one hand and reached out from the driver’s seat to take the phone from Su Yu’s hand. Jiang Nianyi, who was sitting next to Su Yu, also reacted quickly and covered her ears.
“Don’t hang up,” Su Yu said, her facial features twisted in pain. She gritted her teeth to get the words out.
Qin Shuangyuan, who was about to press the hang-up button, stopped. She could only lower the phone’s volume to the minimum and open the car’s convertible roof.
The music was still playing, but it was at a level Su Yu could tolerate. However, her condition had not completely improved. The sudden impact would always have the greatest effect.
This was why in horror movies, ghosts always appear suddenly.
Qin Shuangyuan frowned. “Hang up and call back.”
After all, no one knew how long the other person would play the music. It was better to interrupt it.
“No,” Su Yu said, rubbing her head. She forced herself to open her eyes despite the discomfort, but everything was blurry, so she closed her eyes again. “Can you guarantee that it won’t be music if you call back? Can you guarantee that she will answer?”
No one could guarantee that.
In that case, she couldn’t hang up the phone.
The music lasted for a full minute before a person’s voice came through. To be safe, Qin Shuangyuan didn’t hand the phone back to Su Yu. Instead, she held it in front of her and put it on speakerphone.
Su Yu talked to the person on the phone. Qin Shuangyuan and Jiang Nianyi listened, their brows furrowed.
After hanging up, Jiang Nianyi said coldly, “Su Yu, you know it’s a cliff, but you’re still jumping in?”
Her expression and tone were more serious than ever before.
Qin Shuangyuan also had a serious expression.
Knowing that her friends were just worried about her, Su Yu took out a pair of headphones from her bag and said in a light tone, “You didn’t think I would go empty-handed, did you? You forgot that I have these~”
Su Yu’s parents were against her choice of acting at first because it would significantly increase her exposure to loud music.
She told them she could overcome it, and after some hesitation, they agreed.
Experts suggested that for her condition, only shock therapy would work. It would put the patient directly into the environment they feared the most to quickly correct their wrong perception of fear and anxiety triggers and to eliminate the habitual fear and anxiety response caused by these triggers.
During the therapy, Su Yu’s parents personally accompanied their precious daughter. They watched their daughter writhe in pain on the ground, holding her head, her veins bulging. She finally passed out. After that, they refused to let her go through the therapy again, but they couldn’t win against their daughter. They could only get her a special pair of headphones.
This pair of headphones could change its shape flexibly and was very smart. As soon as Su Yu put them on, they would automatically block all rhythmic and melodic sounds from the outside world without affecting her ability to hear people’s voices.
After the kidnapping incident, Su Yu also couldn’t wear anything related to earrings for a long time, so she would carry these with her but not wear them all the time.
Qin Shuangyuan and Jiang Nianyi were also there during the therapy. It was because they had seen their friend suffer so much that they reacted so quickly just now. But now… Su Yu was going to deliver herself to a vicious criminal who knew her weakness?
Jiang Nianyi still disagreed. “We know you can’t wear these for a long time, Su Yu. Can’t we find another way? Don’t our three families have any other options? Do you have to go yourself? Is Senior Shi really more important than your own life?”
Su Yu looked at her two friends. “It sounds strange, doesn’t it? I think it’s strange, too, but I really feel that she’s more important than my own life. Maybe fate really exists.”
She looked up and touched Jiang Nianyi’s head. “Don’t worry. I’m not going to die. I’ll make sure senior is safe, and I’ll make sure I’m safe, too.”
Her own safety came after Shi Xueqian’s.
Qin Shuangyuan stared at her friend. She couldn’t understand, but she respected her decision. “Do you know who the other person is?”
Su Yu shook her head. “No, I’ve never heard that voice before. But based on how well she knows me, she must be targeting me specifically. Maybe senior was dragged into this because of me.”
Because of her ear problems, Su Yu was more sensitive to sounds. She wouldn’t forget a voice she had heard once, unless the speaker deliberately changed their way of speaking and their voice.
Qin Shuangyuan did not comment. “How can we help you?”
When they arrived at the kidnapping location, Su Yu got out of the car. Seeing the familiar half-finished building, her mind was struck with a sharp pain. She remembered… the memory she had deliberately blocked out because of fear.
“It seems it really is fate.”
The half-finished building was three stories high. The red bricks were unpainted and exposed to the air. The outer walls were covered with rampant vines and moss. Under the cold moonlight, they looked like ghosts clinging to the walls.
She strode inside. The building had an atrium design. The moonlight slanted down from the atrium. Su Yu looked up. The building was empty and very quiet. Only her own footsteps echoed in the air. She didn’t see any lights on.
A sinister laugh came from somewhere.
“Hahaha, Su Yu, you really dared to come alone. I’ll give you credit for that.”
As soon as her voice fell, a deafening burst of music descended from the sky, enveloping Su Yu.
But she stood there motionless.
The music lasted for thirty seconds. Because the headphones were slightly warm, Su Yu knew she was surrounded by music. She spoke loudly, “Didn’t you tell me to come? I’m here. Are you going to be a coward?”
Fu Xingxing stood in the shadows on the second floor, observing Su Yu. She whispered in disbelief, “How can this be? How is it possible! Why is she acting like nothing’s wrong? I clearly tested it just now, and it worked!”
She looked at Su Yu in the moonlight. Her long hair was loose behind her, and the hair on her temples was tucked behind her ears. Both of her ears were clearly exposed, with nothing on them.
But considering Su Yu’s prominent family background, she still thought that Su Yu must be wearing some kind of protective device she didn’t know about.
She calmed down and turned off the music.
“Come up to the innermost room on the second floor.”
Su Yu ran up as fast as she could. When she saw that Shi Xueqian was safe and sound, the heart that had been in her throat slowly lowered.
Shi Xueqian was gagged and tied to a chair. She was fully dressed, and her hair was still in the same style as it was for the performance. Her face was also clean and flawless. From this, it seemed that she had not been subjected to any inhumane torture. Su Yu was about to let out a sigh of relief when she saw the purple marks on her thighs. She gasped.
She looked at the culprit. The moment she saw her, Su Yu immediately recognized who she was.
The girl with the braids who always asked Shi Xueqian questions and pretended to bump into her.
Fu Xingxing: “You don’t need to stare at me. I accidentally pinched her. I’m more heartbroken than you are.”
This was the only room in the entire building that was lit, but the windows were sealed. After she came in, the door was also closed, and the entire room was now a closed space.
But the room wasn’t dirty. On the contrary, it was decorated in a cozy and clean way, like a specially created comfortable and safe cage.
If there wasn’t a cold-glowing arrow pointed directly at Shi Xueqian’s forehead.
Su Yu narrowed her eyes. “What exactly do you want to do?”
Fu Xingxing didn’t answer. She just said coldly, “If you don’t want senior to bleed on the spot, don’t come closer. Take out whatever you have on you!”
Su Yu’s expression remained unchanged. She took her phone out of her pocket. “You mean this?”
“Throw it over.” After she did as she was told, Fu Xingxing said, “Lift up your hair and turn around to show your ears.”
There was nothing behind her ears. Fu Xingxing frowned, staring at her hand hidden under her hair.
Su Yu stood still and raised her eyebrows slightly. “You called me here just to watch me turn around?”
“Shut up! Don’t put your hands down!” Fu Xingxing pressed the remote control in her hand. The music instantly poured out of the speaker, magnified several times in the enclosed space.
Su Yu’s body shook. She fell to her knees with a thud, covering her ears, her expression one of pain.
Shi Xueqian’s pupils dilated. She looked at Fu Xingxing pleadingly. The latter considerately turned off the music, took the cloth out of her mouth, and squatted in front of her. “Qianqian, have you thought about the question I asked you?”
After she hung up the phone, Fu Xingxing had said many sincere and heartfelt words to Shi Xueqian. In the end, she asked Shi Xueqian a question: “Qianqian, will you be my lover?”
Before Shi Xueqian could answer, she continued, “Qianqian, you don’t have to answer right away. You can think about it. If you agree, when Su Yu comes, I will not torture her.”
“As long as you admit in front of her that you love me and will be my lover for life, I’ll let her go.”
Shi Xueqian moved her numb mouth but didn’t say anything.
“It’s okay,” Fu Xingxing said, looking understanding. Her voice was gentle. “Agreeing to someone’s proposal does require some thought. I’ll pause the music when you’ve made up your mind, Qianqian.”
With that, she was about to press the button on the remote control again.
Su Yu was on her knees, her chest rising and falling rapidly. She tried to steady her voice and said, “Since you came for me, why are you making it difficult for senior?”
Fu Xingxing looked at her coldly. “I came for you?”
She laughed wildly, rushed over, and kicked Su Yu’s shoulder with a look of disdain. “I came for you? If it weren’t for senior, who would even look at a person like you who thinks she’s so high and mighty?”
A large headphone fell out of Su Yu’s hand. Fu Xingxing’s eyes narrowed. She picked up the headphones. “Is this thing what’s keeping you from hearing the music? As expected of a rich girl, your stuff is so advanced.”
With that, she threw the headphones on the ground, crushed them with her foot, and kicked them to the corner. She then kicked Su Yu in the stomach. “If it weren’t for you, how could Qianqian not even remember my name!”
Su Yu lay on the ground, holding her stomach.
She hadn’t fully recovered from the shock of the music, and now she had been kicked twice. Su Yu’s head buzzed, and her vision was going black. Everything she saw was alternating between light and dark.
Fu Xingxing raised her foot again.
Shi Xueqian shouted, “Xingxing!”
Fu Xingxing’s foot froze in mid-air. She looked at Shi Xueqian in surprise. This was the first time she had heard Shi Xueqian make such a loud sound, and she was calling her name.
Su Yu also heard her voice. It was like a sharp sword that cleared the noise from her ears, leaving only Shi Xueqian’s voice. Her blurry vision instantly became much clearer.
Fu Xingxing no longer cared about Su Yu. She ran back to Shi Xueqian, knelt down, and looked at her with a look of pleasant surprise. “Qianqian, you called my name again.”
“Just hearing you call my name makes my heart flutter. Qianqian, I really love you. So, are you calling me to give me your answer?”
“Don’t agree to her,” Su Yu said. She had sat up. Her head was still a little dizzy, but her condition was much better. Although she didn’t know what question Fu Xingxing wanted Shi Xueqian to answer, she knew it wouldn’t be a good one.
“Oh?” Fu Xingxing stood up, her gaze like an ice pick staring at Su Yu’s face. “Then are you willing to die for Qianqian?”
Su Yu didn’t hesitate. “I am.”
It was just returning this life to Shi Xueqian.
“Good. Then go die.”
The remote control in Fu Xingxing’s hand had three buttons: black, red, and green. They were specially assembled by her. Black was the music button. She had installed a small detector on the arrow and had recorded Su Yu and Shi Xueqian’s images on it. If she pressed the red button, the arrow would aim at Su Yu until it drew bl00d. The green button was for Shi Xueqian.
She raised her hand and was about to press the red button on the remote.
“Xingxing.”
It wasn’t a hysterical cry like before, but a soft, gentle call.
Fu Xingxing’s movements froze again. She turned around and looked at Shi Xueqian.
Shi Xueqian’s expression was also gentle. Her gaze was as soft as the moonlight outside the window as she looked at her. “Xingxing, don’t you love me?”
“Yes, I love you, Qianqian. I can always feel it. Our souls are both imprisoned, but they also resonate at the same frequency.”
Shi Xueqian: “You just said that our families are all scumbags.”
“Yes, they don’t deserve to be called human.” When she mentioned her family, Fu Xingxing’s eyes instantly filled with intense hatred, almost turning crimson.
“Xingxing, this world is so rotten. Let’s not stay here, okay?”
Su Yu’s mind exploded. She looked at that gentle face in disbelief, opened her mouth, and said with difficulty, “Senior…”
Shi Xueqian ignored her. She was still looking at Fu Xingxing, as if she was saying the gentlest words of love in the world. “What do you think?”
Fu Xingxing understood her meaning. She said excitedly, “Senior, are you saying… we… we should die together? So you do love me, right?”
Shi Xueqian didn’t answer her question about love. She just said, “Are you willing?”
“Yes, yes, I am.” Fu Xingxing was so overwhelmed with joy that she answered several times. The last time, she said it with the same solemnity as if she were reciting wedding vows. “I do, Qianqian.”
“Okay, let me say one last thing to Su Yu. Then you press the green button. I’ll go first, and you’ll follow me, okay? You won’t leave me alone on the road to the underworld, will you?”
“No,” Fu Xingxing’s hand holding the remote was trembling. She nodded repeatedly. “I’ll do exactly as you say, Qianqian.”
At this moment, Shi Xueqian finally shifted her gaze to Su Yu. The gentle look in her eyes slowly turned to sadness. “Su Yu, I’m sorry.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Fu Xingxing pressed the green button.
At the same time the arrow shot out, Su Yu got up and charged forward.
The sudden burst of human strength was astonishing. Su Yu was like a cheetah. She charged out so fast that she was a blur. She pushed Fu Xingxing to the ground with one hand and shielded Shi Xueqian with her body. The arrow went through her shoulder.
Drip… Drip…
The bl00d from the wound dripped onto Shi Xueqian’s thigh.
Shi Xueqian’s pupils slowly dilated until the warmth on her leg woke her up. Tears instantly poured out.
Bl00d seeped from the corner of Su Yu’s mouth. She curled her lips slightly. “Senior, your life is mine…”
You can’t die…
Before she could finish, Su Yu’s body fell to the ground.
“No, no! Su Yu!” Shi Xueqian cried out, her voice so loud that it seemed to shake the night sky. “Fu Xingxing, save Su Yu! She can’t die! She can’t die!”
Fu Xingxing froze for a moment. She suddenly realized that Shi Xueqian didn’t want to die with her. She just wanted to save Su Yu’s life.
No wonder she avoided her question about love.
Shi Xueqian didn’t love her at all.
“Qianqian, you dare to deceive me. You’ve made me angry.”
She stood up, took apart the remote control in her hand, and reassembled it into a dagger. Her face was gloomy as she walked toward them.
She grabbed Shi Xueqian’s chin. “Qianqian, do you like her so much that you would die for her?”
“If that’s the case, then let her die. But I won’t let you die. You have to live with me. You have to live with me.”
She raised the dagger in her hand, her face full of rage, and was about to stab Su Yu again.
Just then, the door was kicked open with a bang. Qin Shuangyuan, who was in the lead, saw the scene inside. Her eyes narrowed. She took out her phone and threw it. It hit Fu Xingxing’s wrist.
Fu Xingxing cried out in pain. She let go of the dagger and held her arm, taking two steps back.
The phone and the dagger landed on the ground with a clatter.
The bodyguards and medical personnel who were following Qin Shuangyuan reacted quickly. They rushed forward. Some subdued the culprit, some untied the victim, and some stopped the bleeding…
Su Yu woke up five days later.
She slowly opened her eyes. The first thing she saw was a mix of blue and white. Her nose was filled with the strong smell of disinfectant.
Soon, a familiar, excited voice rang in her ears. “Yu Yu, you’re awake! You’re finally awake! Old Su, go get the doctor! Hurry up.”
Su Tiancheng responded with two “okay”s and immediately ran out of the room to get the doctor.
The doctor came quickly and checked Su Yu’s vitals.
“The patient’s vitals are all normal. Now, you just need to be careful with the wound and rest well.”
Su Tiancheng finally let out a sigh of relief. “Thank you, Doctor.”
Su Yu looked at Duan Qing. “Mom, where are A-Yuan and Nian Nian?”
Hearing that she was okay, Duan Qing’s face instantly became much colder. She sat down by the bed. “You want to see them?”
Su Yu nodded.
Duan Qing: “Okay, you first honestly tell me what happened.”
From her tone, Su Yu knew that her mother already knew everything. “I’m sorry, Mom, but I want to know how senior is doing now.”
Duan Qing’s face turned completely dark. “Su Yu, did you get our permission to sacrifice your life for someone else?”
“You’re thinking of her, and the first thing you do when you open your eyes is ask about her. Then why don’t you ask if she’s been to see you, after you spent three days in the ICU and five days in the hospital?”
With her mother’s attitude, Su Yu didn’t need to ask. In these five days, Shi Xueqian definitely hadn’t come to see her even once. But Su Yu was sure that Shi Xueqian didn’t do it on purpose.
“Mom, she must have her reasons.” Su Yu reached for her hand and said in a spoiled voice, “Mom, just tell me. How is she? Is she hurt? You can’t let your daughter get hurt for nothing, right?”
“Hurt? You almost died.” Duan Qing was genuinely angry. Her principle was to repay kindness and avenge hatred. She truly detested ungrateful people. “Even if she had the biggest reason in the world, she didn’t even come to visit her savior after so many days in the hospital?”
Su Yu understood her mother. She must be disgusted with Shi Xueqian right now. She squeezed her mother’s soft palm, signaling her not to get angry, and slowly said, “But Mom, she’s my savior.”
