You Should Have Told Me You Don't Like Sweet Girls - Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Shi Xueqian stared at her with a blank expression for a moment. There was no sign of her face softening as she turned and walked away.
Seeing that the person was truly leaving, Su Yu immediately grabbed her things, ready to chase after her. But in her peripheral vision, the white figure stopped.
Su Yu: !!!
She timed it perfectly, and flopped back into her chair. This time, she didn’t look at Shi Xueqian with a pitiful expression. Instead, she looked at her heel with a look of extreme pain, as if it hurt too much to get up.
She looked so pathetic.
She didn’t hear any footsteps, but the figure in her peripheral vision was slowly getting closer. Su Yu suppressed the urge to smile wildly. She adjusted her expression and her posture, exposing her severely scraped heel. She looked up at Shi Xueqian, her face a mix of pain and surprise. “Senior? Why did you come back?”
She then had a sudden realization. “Oh, did you come back for me?”
“I’m actually fine. Even though this injury happened because I was rushing you to the library, it was my choice. You don’t have to feel guilty.”
“It’s a good thing you’re so observant, senior, otherwise I wouldn’t have even noticed my heel was scraped. You even thoughtfully gave me disinfectant and everything. I just haven’t figured out how to use it yet,” Su Yu said, fumbling with the disinfectant bottle. She looked up and gave a bright smile. “But it’s okay, I can figure it out.”
“Hiss, it hurts so much.”
She looked at her wound and began to “clumsily” mess with the cotton swabs and disinfectant, while keeping an eye on Shi Xueqian in her peripheral vision.
Tsk, why isn’t she coming over to help me? Was my acting not good enough?
Just as she was about to act a little more, a beautiful, well-proportioned hand took the disinfectant and cotton swabs from her.
“There won’t be a next time,” Shi Xueqian said, kneeling on one knee in front of her. “Don’t ever appear in my…”
“I do.”
Su Yu cut her off, leaning forward. The distance between them instantly closed, their breaths mingling as their eyes met.
Shi Xueqian’s breathing paused for a second. “You ‘do’ what?”
Did Su Yu even hear what I said?
“I do, I’ll marry you.”
“Huh?” Shi Xueqian was slow to react. Her eyes widened, and she looked completely bewildered.
So cute.
Su Yu suppressed the urge to reach out and cup her face. Her gaze lingered on Shi Xueqian’s lips for a moment before returning to her slightly dimmed amber eyes. “You kneeling on one knee like this, senior, I thought you were proposing to me.”
“What am I going to do? I like you so much that I’m already thinking about marriage. This must be love.”
“But it’s so frustrating that you don’t like me yet. Why don’t you consider marrying me first and falling in love later? I’ll definitely make you fall in love with me after we’re married.”
Shi Xueqian: “…Is the wound on your head?”
“Take off your shoe and put your foot out here.”
Su Yu obediently did as she was told. “Be gentle, senior. I’m afraid of pain.”
Even without her reminder, Shi Xueqian’s movements were already very gentle, almost to the point of being cautious. Su Yu remained leaned over, whispering to her. “But, your breathing was a little off just now, wasn’t it… Ah! Ouch, senior, you have no sympathy for me.”
Her voice was low, but the library was so quiet that it still attracted the attention of many students.
Shi Xueqian gave them a slight nod in apology, then turned her attention back to Su Yu’s innocent face. “If you say another word, I’ll leave right now.”
Su Yu obediently made an ‘X’ over her mouth with her fingers.
The rest of the treatment went smoothly. Shi Xueqian disinfected the wound and put on a bandage with practiced ease. When she was done, she stood up, said, “Don’t ever appear in front of me again,” and left.
Su Yu was stunned for a second, then quickly gathered her things and followed. According to her dad’s love advice, you should always listen to your wife, but there’s one thing you can’t listen to: when you’re in the pursuit stage and the person you like tells you to get lost, if you listen, you’ll never win them over. At that point, you just have to cling to them shamelessly.
As soon as she walked out of the library, she saw Shi Xueqian answering questions for another student.
It only took ten minutes to walk from the library to the classroom building for Shi Xueqian’s class, but she left half an hour early every day. Su Yu couldn’t help but wonder if Shi Xueqian specifically set aside those twenty minutes to answer questions for these people.
As expected, she ran into a lot of people who came to ask questions (or to hit on her). It seemed that more people knew about Shi Xueqian’s campus routine than she had thought.
There were more rivals than she had expected…
Seeing time fly by, Su Yu stepped forward and blocked the students coming their way. “Hey, class is about to start for the senior, so go ahead and ask your teacher if you have any questions~”
Without waiting for their reactions, she grabbed Shi Xueqian and walked away.
Shi Xueqian watched her from behind, pulled her hand away, and continued walking. Su Yu followed a step behind her, like an automated little shadow.
“Wow, is that Su Yu? Why is she dressed like that?”
“Shi Xueqian’s charm is something else. I’ve already seen a lot of ‘fierce girls turning sweet’ and ‘cool guys turning cute’ this morning.”
“Su Yu likes Shi Xueqian’s type? Is it too late for me to change my style now?”
Su Yu’s appearance caused a stir among the students in the hallway, their gazes subtly shifting to the two of them.
Su Yu smiled sweetly at the students who were about to come over. She pointed at Shi Xueqian, then at herself, silently saying: “Shi Xueqian is mine.”
“What? Is she claiming her territory? Did Senior Shi agree to that?”
“No way. She’s just trying to intimidate us.”
“Yeah, what’s the point of trying to intimidate us? She’s the one who’s disliked by the main character.”
“Exactly. She really thinks everyone likes her.”
It was clear to everyone that Shi Xueqian was intentionally giving her a hard time.
The teacher also seemed a little hesitant. How could a freshman, who was auditing for the first time, manage a full conversation in Thai?
She was about to politely decline when Su Yu stepped forward and, in fluent Thai, accepted the invitation. “As an auditor with no presence, I’m happy that the senior noticed me and is helping me get involved in the class.”
Her Thai was flawless and natural.
After speaking, she tilted her head and gave Shi Xueqian a sweet smile.
The class was silent. The Thai teacher on the podium was also shocked.
Out of fifty students in the class, Shi Xueqian was the only one who could speak Thai so fluently without preparation.
Shi Xueqian also showed a flicker of surprise before quickly returning to her composure. In Thai, she continued, “You speak Thai very quickly. It seems you weren’t lying about liking Thai.”
“I never lie,” Su Yu also replied in Thai. “If there’s a language I like, I’ll learn it immediately. If there’s a person I like, I’ll pursue them immediately. In other words, what I want, I must get.”
“That’s a wonderful spirit, Su Yu. In life, you must always face challenges head-on,” the teacher said, not holding back her praise. “Your Thai is excellent. You must have put a lot of effort into it. I believe this will be a very exciting scene to watch.”
“Thank you, teacher,” Su Yu bowed slightly to the teacher, then turned to Shi Xueqian. “Senior, can we make the theme of our talk ‘love’?”
The teacher: “Love? I’m very excited.”
“If the teacher thinks it’s okay, I have no problem with it,” Shi Xueqian said.
“Thank you, senior,” Su Yu said, her eyes curving into a smile. “When it comes to love, the most important thing is choosing your other half. I’d like to ask you, senior, what is your ideal partner like?”
Other students: She’s a schemer! She’s using this as a cover to ask personal questions!
But some students were also secretly excited, as they really wanted to know the answer to that question.
“That’s a question worth thinking about,” Shi Xueqian said, pausing slightly. “But I’m sorry, I’ve never thought about it.”
“Perhaps you can think about it now, senior?”
Shi Xueqian fell into contemplation. She wasn’t thinking about her ideal type, but rather about how to get out of this.
Su Yu suggested some keywords: “Romantic? Thrilling? Or… ordinary?”
“I’ve never longed for love,” Shi Xueqian said slowly. “So any kind of love is foreign to me. I believe I need to find the answer in life, so I’m afraid I cannot answer.”
“I think what you said is very right,” Shi Xueqian said, seemingly accepting that she wouldn’t get an answer. “Then, regarding love, is there anything you’d like to ask…”
Ding-a-ling!
The class bell rang, ending the topic. Shi Xueqian said, “It was a pleasure talking with you today.”
The teacher started the applause. “Both of you were excellent. Su Yu, I hope to see you in class again. Class dismissed.”
Su Yu tilted her head and leaned toward Shi Xueqian. “Senior, how was my performance?”
Shi Xueqian packed up her things and left the classroom, acting as if Su Yu were air.
Su Yu was not discouraged. She packed up her things and followed her to the next class’s door.
Shi Xueqian finally couldn’t take it anymore and turned around. “Don’t you have a class?”
Su Yu took an A4 paper out of a book and placed it on top of the books in Shi Xueqian’s arms. “This is my class schedule. The places where I’ve drawn a little shadow are the times I don’t have class, and also the times I’ll be coming to find you.”
Shi Xueqian’s eyes scanned the paper, then landed on the chibi drawing in the bottom right corner.
Su Yu’s fingers, which were smooth and shiny, pointed to the chibi girl. She cupped her face and tilted her head toward Shi Xueqian. “This is a self-portrait. See, senior? Doesn’t she look exactly like me, cute and sweet~”
Shi Xueqian stared at her for a moment. Then she said, “Come with me.”
