You Should Have Told Me You Don't Like Sweet Girls - Chapter 8
Chapter 8
In the library, a standoff was taking place at the entrance to Shi Xueqian’s study room.
Su Yu didn’t dare to push the door open with force. Instead, she wedged her fair, long leg into the gap, preventing Shi Xueqian from closing the door. “Senior, please just let me in to study with you. I have another class soon, so I only have less than a period of time right now~”
Shi Xueqian stood in the doorway. “Don’t take an inch when I’ve given a mile.”
Su Yu: “Why not? I promise I won’t bother you while you study.”
She had just received a pat on the head, so she felt like she could push her luck a little more.
Being in a room alone with the senior!
Shi Xueqian: “No. It’ll be too crowded if you come in.”
Su Yu’s attempt to squeeze in paused. Her expression was pathetic. “Do you think I’m too fat, senior? I’ll start a diet today, okay?”
Shi Xueqian: “That’s not what I meant.”
Su Yu lowered her eyes slightly, looking incredibly wronged. “Then what did you mean, senior?”
She had taken a quick peek inside the study room just now. There was a table and a chair in the middle, a bookshelf, a beanbag chair, and a water cooler and some plants in the corner. It was clean, tidy, and well-lit. There was more than enough room for ten people to not be crowded!
Shi Xueqian: “…”
She couldn’t very well say that Su Yu’s outfit still made her feel physically ill. Being in an enclosed space with her might just drive her crazy.
Realizing this, Shi Xueqian had a sudden thought. It seemed that no matter how Su Yu appeared in front of her, she could drive her crazy.
The reasons for being driven crazy with joy and crazy with disgust were contradictorily appearing in the same person.
Su Yu: “Senior~”
Shi Xueqian: “I…”
She really, really hated sweet girls.
Su Yu looked at her expectantly. “You?”
Shi Xueqian slightly shook her head. “Nothing. Come in.” She stepped to the side, making way.
The sudden change in attitude was unexpected. Su Yu was stunned for a second, thinking she had misheard. “Really? I can come in?”
Shi Xueqian looked up. “Hm? You don’t want to come in now?”
Su Yu’s eyes darkened. She reached out, wrapped her arm around Shi Xueqian’s waist, walked into the room, closed the door, and pressed Shi Xueqian against it. She leaned in close to her ear and said, “Senior, you’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you?”
So close…
The warm breath on her ear, seeping into her collar, made Shi Xueqian feel as if a current was running down her spine, causing her tailbone to shiver.
The shock was so strong that she couldn’t tell if it was from the physical disgust or from the stimulation around her waist.
Perhaps it was both.
She held her breath and spoke in a low voice. “Let go of me first.”
“I don’t want to,” Su Yu said, holding her tighter. “Answer my question first.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Shi Xueqian said, trying to steady her breathing, but it was already a mess.
“Oh?” Su Yu controlled her hand, keeping it in one place, and controlled her breath, keeping it at a certain distance. She took a light sniff. “Isn’t your hot-and-cold attitude an act of playing hard to get?”
“No. Let go of me,” Shi Xueqian said, trying to break free. But the hand on her waist was like an iron clamp, holding her tightly. It was so easy to get away last time, why is it… “I told you, don’t misinterpret what I say.”
“Hm? Really? Did I misunderstand?” Su Yu’s eyes were smiling as she looked directly at the person in her arms. It was this same look that Shi Xueqian had given her the first time they met.
Shi Xueqian’s amber eyes were bright, and they seemed to have ripples in them. She secretly pinched her own thigh. The pain successfully took over all her senses, and her slowly slipping sanity returned. She lifted Su Yu’s face, which was incredibly close, and said slowly, “I’m playing hard to get? Junior, aren’t you… the one with impure intentions, deliberately misinterpreting my words?”
Her low voice was like a spell, and her breath seemed to turn into a tangible hand, gripping Su Yu’s throat. Su Yu’s breath hitched, and her eyes darkened. The back of the hand on Shi Xueqian’s lower back was already veined with blue.
“I, I didn’t,” Su Yu stuttered, her throat bobbing. “A person’s body is always more honest than their mouth.”
“Is that so?” Shi Xueqian placed her hand on Su Yu’s neck, slowly sliding it down to her collarbone. Her fingertips gently tapped it. “Then what information do you think my body is giving you right now?”
The soft body in her arms was trembling slightly, its watery eyes looking up at her, a hint of red in the corners…
“Senior, you…”
“Hm?” Shi Xueqian leaned in close to her ear and said, word by word, “What about me?”
Su Yu’s wrist was suddenly grabbed. Before she could react, the arm around her waist tightened even more. Her hands were held above her head, and the person in front of her… the person’s eyes were dark, and her lips were slightly curled, a mix of madness and control.
“Senior, you’re seducing me, aren’t you?”
Bad, unreasonable… This was the Su Yu she had imagined, the Su Yu she wanted. If she were a little more forceful, a little more rough, it would be a perfect match…
“Senior, I was wrong.” A sweet voice suddenly rang in her ears. The person who had just looked crazy was now rubbing her fluffy head against Shi Xueqian’s neck, softly admitting her mistake.
Shi Xueqian: “???”
“The senior wasn’t doing it on purpose. It was my impure intentions. I was deliberately misinterpreting what you meant. Please don’t kick me out, senior. I really just came in to study hard.”
Shi Xueqian: “…If you want to study hard, why don’t you let go of me?”
Su Yu didn’t move. “Then… if I obey, you won’t kick me out, okay?”
“Are you threatening me right now?” Shi Xueqian’s voice was flat.
“No, I’m admitting my mistake.”
“Is that the way you admit a mistake?”
“I’m sorry…”
Shi Xueqian closed her eyes and said, “Fine. Let go now, and I won’t kick you out.”
“Really?”
“I’m counting to one…”
Before she could finish, Shi Xueqian felt a sudden lightness. Su Yu, who had been clinging to her like a large piece of luggage, let go and took two steps back. She hung her head, looking incredibly pathetic. “You have to keep your word, senior.”
Shi Xueqian gave her a look. She was in a state that would make anyone feel sorry for her, a state that Shi Xueqian hated the most. I must have been hallucinating just now. How could I have thought this person in front of me was the one I imagined?
There’s no way she could be. I must have been mistaken before.
“Don’t do it again.”
She said this, walked past her, and went to her desk.
Su Yu stood there for a moment, slowly exhaling. That was a close one. Good thing I reacted quickly. I almost revealed my true nature. She patted her little heart, a little scared.
If she had, she would definitely have been kicked out.
She took a few deep breaths, adjusted her mindset, and turned around, only to realize something awkward.
The study room was big enough, and the desk was big enough, but there was only one chair! The tables and chairs in the library were all connected and couldn’t be moved in!
Shi Xueqian noticed her gaze. She looked around, and it was clear she had also noticed the problem. She stood up and walked to the beanbag chair. “I’ll sit here. You can use the desk.”
Su Yu pulled her up and pushed her to the desk to sit. “I just need to memorize words. The beanbag chair is perfect for me.”
She went back to the beanbag chair, put her bag to the side, and took out a pen and the “6,000 German Words” book. She looked up and saw Shi Xueqian looking at her. She scooted to the side and patted the empty space, inviting her. “Do you want to come and sit with me, senior?”
Shi Xueqian just said, “Remember what you said,” then turned and put on her earphones to start her listening practice.
The window was slightly open. The occasional breeze would come in, ruffle the curtains, and then escape, leaving only the shadow of the leaves and Shi Xueqian’s back crisscrossing on the wooden floor.
Su Yu propped her head up with one hand, admiring the silhouette on the floor that was also propping its head up in thought. A smile appeared in her eyes. She took out a paper and pen and drew a simple sketch of the scene.
She glanced at her watch. There were ten minutes left until class ended. She looked up at Shi Xueqian’s back, took out another blank paper, and the pen began to move quickly.
The listening part had just finished. Shi Xueqian was about to play the next part when her elbow was lightly poked. She turned her head and saw Su Yu, who was lying on the edge of the desk. Her clear, dark eyes were looking up at her, like a little dog, full of pleading.
Su Yu lowered her gaze, pointing to the blank paper lying facedown on the desk.
Shi Xueqian reached for the paper. Su Yu’s eyes instantly lit up, and it was as if a little tail had sprouted behind her and was wagging.
This was the first time Shi Xueqian hadn’t refused her note~
—Senior, I have to go to class soon. Can you give me a copy of your class schedule, please? (Chibi sweet girl begging)
“You don’t know my class schedule?” Shi Xueqian asked, staring at her.
Su Yu shook her head like a rattle. “I don’t know.” She suddenly remembered something, and her eyes lit up. “Wait, did you secretly give it to me at some point? Where? Where?”
Shi Xueqian: “…I didn’t.”
The happy person immediately deflated.
“You really don’t have my class schedule?” Shi Xueqian asked again.
Su Yu: “No. If you’re talking about the last class, that was really a coincidence.”
Shi Xueqian stared at her.
“Okay… it wasn’t a coincidence,” Su Yu said, making a big heart with her arms over her head. “It was definitely fate between you and me, senior.”
Shi Xueqian: “…”
She took the paper, wrote two words, and pushed it back.
Su Yu took it with a mix of excitement and surprise. This was the first time Shi Xueqian had responded to her notes. She eagerly flipped it over, only to see the two beautiful, neat characters for “No.”
Su Yu: “…”
Her sweet face immediately crumpled into a bitter, wrinkled mess.
She glanced at the person’s cold profile, then lowered her head and mumbled into the desk, “I guess I’ll have to run all over campus after class. As soon as class is over, I’ll run here. If no one’s here, I’ll just have to search for you in every classroom in the Foreign Languages building.”
She secretly glanced at Shi Xueqian and continued her monologue. “Sigh, I might get so tired that I’ll faint in a corner somewhere and no one will even notice. But I guess it’s okay. It’ll be a good workout and a way to lose weight. Oh, little Yu Yu, who told you you were too fat just now.”
Shi Xueqian: “…”
