You Stole My Husband, So I Seduced Your Son - Chapter 51
The pastry Min Rongxue had been holding finally slipped from her grasp. Her worst fears had come true—that first encounter hadn’t been a fluke; they were now meeting in secret under the moonlight.
“Madam, let’s go to sleep and pretend we didn’t see anything, shall we?” Madam Ma pleaded.
Min Rongxue sat frozen like a statue, alternating between weeping and blank staring, her behavior so alarming that Madam Ma’s face turned deathly pale.
“Madam, if you’re truly distressed, I’ll fetch the Young Master. I’ll tell him you’re unwell, and he won’t leave tonight, no matter what.”
“Don’t go,” Min Rongxue ordered. “Listen to my instructions.”
Meanwhile, Song Xuwan considered tonight crucial. She had to ensure everything went perfectly. She had Baizhi drug everyone in the Annex except her trusted confidantes, ensuring no one would hear any commotion, even if a fight broke out.
With all preparations complete, she waited quietly for Ji Moyang to arrive. She had skipped their daytime rendezvous, knowing he would surely come tonight.
Once Ji Moyang arrived, she would lead him out of the Annex at all costs, setting the stage for a grand drama of adultery.
As she waited anxiously, the door creaked open. Song Xuwan blew out the lamp and darted to the entrance, throwing herself into a familiar embrace.
They held each other in silence for a long moment before Ji Moyang feigned annoyance. “I thought you didn’t miss me,” he grumbled. “You left me alone in the Small Residence all day without a word.”
Song Xuwan nestled in Ji Moyang’s arms, fidgeting for a long while before half-jokingly complaining, “I got ready early to see you, but Master suddenly announced he had official business and needed me to pack his luggage and rush to the Annex. It was so chaotic I didn’t have time to notify you.”
“You waited for me all day at the Small Residence, but I spent half the day anxiously waiting for you there, and the other half at the Annex.”
“You know how anxious you were waiting, but you never considered how restless I was too. Listen to my heart—it’s still racing.”
Ji Moyang chuckled, his voice softening. “So, it’s all my fault, then?”
“Of course! Who told you to make me like you so much? I’ve been distracted all day.”
Though Ji Moyang had long sensed Song Xuwan’s growing affection, their relationship had been mostly casual. This was the first time they were truly confessing their feelings.
Hearing Song Xuwan’s candid confession sent a jolt through Ji Moyang’s entire being. An overwhelming sweetness surged through him, and the guilt he’d felt over their clandestine affair now seemed justified by their genuine emotions.
He no longer felt conflicted about having once forced himself on Song Xuwan. Instead, he felt a deep sense of loss at not possessing her completely, wishing he could meld her into his very being.
“I’ve been thinking of you all day too,” Song Xuwan murmured, “I can’t even focus on my books anymore.”
The two lingered in tender embrace for a while longer. Song Xuwan sighed, “When I saw you riding toward me from afar today, my heart raced with every beat of the horse’s hooves. I wished I could leap onto the saddle with you and wander the world together.”
Has her love for me grown so deep that she’d abandon her family and elope with me? Ji Moyang’s eyes welled with emotion.
At the height of their passion, their desires seemed to soften. He glanced at the nearby bed and decided to spend the night in romantic pursuits.
“Didn’t you say you don’t know how to ride? I’ll teach you tonight,” he whispered.
“Alright,” Song Xuwan replied eagerly.
Just as she was fretting about how to lure Ji Moyang away, he had conveniently provided the perfect excuse himself.
“Wait here,” Ji Moyang said softly. “I’ll lead the horse out first and come back for you.”
Song Xuwan nodded eagerly, her eyes shining with anticipation, urging him to hurry back.
As Ji Moyang carefully crossed the courtyard toward the stables, he suddenly noticed a light still on in Min Rongxue’s room. Madam Ma was carrying a plate of pastries toward her own quarters.
His face darkened as he watched everything unfold from the shadows.
Madam Ma returned to their room and shook Feng Shi awake. “Husband, don’t go back to sleep yet. Madam says she wants to go see what’s happening tonight, and we’re going with her.”
“What are you talking about? Go where?” Feng Shi mumbled, still half-asleep.
Madam Ma sighed impatiently. “Fine, go back to sleep for now. The Young Master probably hasn’t left yet. We’ll wait a bit longer.”
“Want some of this snack? Madam gave it to us.”
Feng Shi, who had been starving all day, immediately perked up at the sight of the snack. Even though he was already full, he couldn’t resist taking a bite.
“Delicious!” he exclaimed between mouthfuls. “Try some!”
Madam Ma took a piece and popped it into her mouth. It was indeed delicious.
In the quiet night, a soft whistle pierced the air. Ma Yue vaulted over the railing and sprinted out of the annex. Ji Moyang led the horse a few dozen steps away before tethering it and returning to the annex to retrieve Song Xuwan.
The annex was pitch-black. Ji Moyang, familiar with the layout, found Song Xuwan and carried her out of the annex as quietly as possible.
As Song Xuwan watched the annex gradually disappear behind them, she felt a mix of excitement and anticipation. Images of Min Rongxue’s shocked, disappointed, and utterly disheartened expression flashed through her mind.
She had already arranged with Lu Yuan that the moment Min Rongxue appeared at the foot of the mountain and the two groups clashed, he would immediately set fire to Fuyun Temple, prompting the monks and scholars inside to rush out to put out the flames.
In the chaos, Song Xuwan would escape under Lu Yuan’s cover, leaving behind only a humiliated, masked woman. Ji Moyang would be finished this time.
Now, all she could do was hope Madam Ma wouldn’t miss this opportunity tonight. Otherwise, she’d have to find another way to lure Ji Moyang out tomorrow.
Ji Moyang helped Song Xuwan onto the horse, then nimbly mounted behind her. With a squeeze of his legs, the horse began to trot along the narrow forest path.
“Where are we going?” Song Xuwan asked nervously.
Ji Moyang wrapped his arms around her from behind, his warm breath tickling her ear. In high spirits, he teased, “Scared?”
He tugged on the reins, slowing the horse. “Where do you want to go?”
She didn’t want to go anywhere, really. She just wanted to stay close to the Annex so Min Rongxue and her group could find her easily. If they went too far or the horse ran too fast, what if Min Rongxue lost track of them?
“Anywhere is fine, as long as I’m with you,” she replied.
Hearing Ji Moyang’s chest rise and fall, Song Xuwan couldn’t help but chuckle. “Don’t wander too far,” she added. “Might there be wolves out at night?”
Ji Moyang laughed even louder this time. After a while, he said, “This is Fuyun Temple territory. With so many people coming and going, there haven’t been any wild animals around for ages. Even if there were, I’d protect you.”
Hearing this, Song Xuwan secretly wished a wild animal would appear and bite Ji Moyang’s arm, rendering him unable to hold a brush for the exams.
After strolling around for a while, Song Xuwan urged them to return. She had no interest in romance and simply wanted to find a well-lit spot to wait for Min Rongxue.
But Ji Moyang, rarely having such an opportunity, refused to let Song Xuwan leave. He insisted on engaging in some romantic conversation.
He knew that couples often exchanged poetry under the moonlight, but Song Xuwan was clueless about such things. He had to find another way.
Looking up at the sky, Ji Moyang pointed to the stars and said, “How about I teach you to recognize the constellations?”
