Young Miss from the Feng Family - FJXM Chapter 10
Leng Tian Ao clutched the child in his arms tightly, feeling completely at a loss. Ling Feng and Feng Ming had been swept away by the avalanche, and he had no idea where they were.
A faint hissing sound reached his ears, making Leng Tian Ao instantly alert. Only then did he realize that they were now in some kind of hollow, a depression in the snowy landscape.
Several blood-red snakes were slowly slithering toward them.
Snakes! In this cold weather, shouldn’t snakes be hibernating? Why were there snakes here? And it was clear these snakes were coming right for them.
No, they had to get out of here quickly!
Having been in the cold for so long, Leng Tian Ao could feel his blood practically freezing in his veins. His limbs were stiff and uncooperative.
Ignoring everything else, Leng Tian Ao picked up Feng Jiu Ge and began trudging forward step by step.
The hollow was difficult enough to navigate on foot, let alone while carrying someone.
After only a few steps, they both fell to the ground.
The child in his arms rolled away down the slope.
“Xiao Jiu!”
“Get away!” The snakes were closing in, more and more of them surrounding the two.
Coughing echoed in the cold air.
“Xiao Jiu, you’re awake!”
“Big Brother, in my pocket, there’s some snake repellent powder. Sprinkle some around.” Feng Jiu Ge instructed weakly. With the powder spread, the snakes indeed stopped advancing.
“Xiao Jiu, are you okay? Are you feeling any discomfort?”
“I’m fine, Big Brother, but don’t you think these snakes are strange?” Feng Jiu Ge replied. The blood-red color and the fact that they weren’t hibernating in this weather were indeed odd.
“Big Brother, follow the direction those snakes came from. Let’s go check it out!” Feng Jiu Ge suggested. These snakes seemed to have been drawn by something, and in this vast snowy mountain, the only place likely to attract blood would be where the Bloodthirsty Flower grows.
Sure enough!
Feng Jiu Ge smiled slightly as she spotted a snow-white flower bud, just about to bloom.
It was surprisingly easy to find.
“Big Brother, do you see that flower?”
“Yes.” In the midst of the blood-red snakes, the white flower stood out starkly.
“That’s the Bloodthirsty Flower.”
“In a moment, I’ll distract these snakes, and you go over there and drip some blood onto the flower. When the flower turns completely red, pick it and eat it. That will cure the poison in your body.” Feng Jiu Ge explained as she quietly approached the snakes.
She gripped the snake repellent powder tightly in her hand.
Timing her move carefully, she scattered the powder toward the cluster of snakes. Then, she took out a small bottle and sprinkled its contents on the other side. The snakes, momentarily disoriented, all began slithering in the same direction, as if guided by some unseen force.
Leng Tian Ao quickly approached the Bloodthirsty Flower.
He dripped his blood onto the petals and waited for the flower to bloom, all the while keeping an eye on Feng Jiu Ge’s situation.
Countless snakes were following Feng Jiu Ge.
She was almost at the end of the line.
Leng Tian Ao grew increasingly anxious. What was taking so long? Why wasn’t the flower blooming yet? Was he not bleeding enough?
Hurry up! Hurry!
A burst of light radiated from the flower as it finally began to bloom. Leng Tian Ao wasted no time, swiftly plucking the petals and swallowing them.
Feng Jiu Ge noticed this and immediately abandoned the bottle, running towards Leng Tian Ao.
“Run!” she shouted. She had noticed earlier that while the snakes appeared to be as small as worms, each one was highly venomous.
If they could avoid provoking the snakes, they should.
The two of them ran for their lives, scrambling out of the hollow and finally taking a deep breath as they reached safer ground.
But then—
“Big Brother, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?” Feng Jiu Ge asked, alarmed as she saw Leng Tian Ao suddenly coughing up blood.
“I’m fine…” he managed to say before collapsing unconscious.
Feng Jiu Ge’s mouth twitched. Could he stop trying to act tough?
It looked like they would need to find a place to spend the night.
But spending the night in the snow was no simple matter.
They had to guard against freezing to death and be on alert for any wild animals that might appear during the night.
Wait, she could dig a snow cave.
