“Third Senior Brother, hurry up! If we’re late, my little treasure will escape!”

“Why are you so obsessed with poisonous things?” Feng Ming complained. “And you have a habit of poisoning people just for fun, too.”

The startled centipede bolted.

It ran! Just like that, it ran off!

Glaring at the man who had somehow appeared out of nowhere, Feng Jiu Ge was furious!

“Hey, where did you come from? You scared away my precious!” she yelled, storming over. But before she could get close, a dozen men in black appeared out of nowhere.

These guys clearly meant business.

“Heh, sorry about that, everyone. Looks like I took a wrong turn.” Feng Jiu Ge said, playing it off as she began to back away slowly.

“Leave no one alive!” the leader of the black-clad men ordered.

“Hey, big brother, I’m just passing through. No need to waste your time on me.” she protested, but they completely ignored her.

Damn it, she thought. Should’ve checked the almanac before leaving the house today.

The man on the ground struggled to his feet, wiping the blood from his mouth.

“They’re after me. This has nothing to do with anyone else!” he declared.

Hmm, not a bad way to put it, Feng Jiu Ge thought.

She had been about to make a run for it, but now she stopped in her tracks. “Because of what you just said, I’ll help you out today.” she said confidently, a stark contrast to her earlier demeanor.

The man thought she might actually be capable of something, but then she turned around and shouted at the top of her lungs.

“Third Senior Brother! If you don’t get out here, your little cutie’s going to get chopped up!”

Her shout caught everyone off guard, and the black-clad men instantly became wary.

Someone else was here!

Feng Ming reluctantly stepped out from behind a large tree.

“Xiao Jiu, can you please stop dragging me into your fights as your backup?” he sighed. Every time, he ended up getting punished by their master afterward!

Was it easy being an older brother?

The two of them started bickering as if no one else was around, completely ignoring the danger of being surrounded.

“Kill them all! Leave no one alive!” the leader commanded.

The man tensed up, realizing that he had no strength left to fight back after being chased for so long. Was this really the end for him?

But just as he prepared to fight, all the black-clad men suddenly collapsed to the ground.

“All done!” Feng Jiu Ge snapped her fingers, then noticed that the man had collapsed as well. She pulled out a pill and shoved it into his mouth.

“Consider yourself lucky!” she muttered before standing up. The man couldn’t hold on any longer and passed out.

“Third Senior Brother, let’s head back.”

On the way back, the usual chatter between the two fell silent.

“Xiao Jiu, I’m leaving the valley tomorrow.” Feng Ming finally said.

“I know. You’re at the age where you should leave the valley, Third Senior Brother.” she replied, shaking her head in mock sorrow. “It’s been a few years, and now you’re getting old! Soon, you’ll be leaving just like Second Senior Brother did.”

She sighed dramatically, but her face showed a teasing smirk that made it hard not to want to smack her.
