Young Miss from the Feng Family - FJXM Chapter 2
The sound of something heavy hitting the ground shattered the moment of warmth.
The butler, covered in blood, crawled into the courtyard, trembling. His voice panicked as he spoke.
“Princess Consort, you must leave quickly!”
“Butler, what happened outside? How did you get injured?”
“It’s… it’s…” Before he could finish, the butler collapsed to the ground, barely clinging to life.
The Princess Consort of Jin Wang was shocked.
“Lüfu, quickly, prepare the carriage!” Listening to the sounds of fighting outside, she sighed slightly. In her heart, she knew that the three of them had finally come to this point.
“Princess Consort, the Prince has ordered me to escort you, the heir, and the young Junzhu to safety.” Ying said as he and several others approached from the outer courtyard. The thick smell of blood filled the air as they swiftly climbed into the carriage.
“Ying, you will escort the heir and the young Junzhu out of here.” the Princess Consort said as she placed the children in the carriage. But then she stopped and turned to speak to the person inside the carriage. “Lüfu, I’m entrusting the children to you.” The reluctance and determination in her eyes made Lüfu worry.
“Princess Consort, what are you planning to do?” Lüfu, holding Feng Jiugé in her arms, looked at the woman, tears uncontrollably streaming down her face.
“I won’t leave the Prince behind.”
“Princess Consort, I cannot allow you to return!”
“Please, Princess Consort, leave with us!” Ying said respectfully.
“Mother!” Feng Jiuli and Feng Jiuming were being held by the guards.
The Princess Consort took one last, deep look at the people in the carriage. She reached out and forcefully slapped the side of the carriage, causing it to lurch forward uncontrollably. She watched as the carriage sped away, smiled, and then turned to run back towards the manor.
“Mother!”
“Mother!” Feng Jiuming shouted.
“Let me go! I want to find Father and Mother!” His face was covered in tears. Despite his young age and not fully understanding the situation, he instinctively felt that if they left today, he would regret it for the rest of his life.
“Brother, stop!” Feng Jiuli, however, did not cry or make a fuss. Though tears welled up in his eyes, he held them back, refusing to let them fall.
With their parents gone, he knew he had the responsibility to protect his younger brother and sister.
“Uncle Ying, let’s go!” he commanded. Returning now would only make them a burden to their parents!
That day, the entire Jin Wang Manor was engulfed in flames. Several ministers who had been close to Jin Wang also perished in the massacre, yet the Emperor of Tianqi, who had been as close as a brother to Jin Wang, showed no intention of investigating the matter.
Many people tacitly agreed not to mention the incident again. But the pursuit of those connected to Jin Wang Manor was far from over.
In a courtyard overgrown with weeds and in ruins, a small figure crept cautiously towards the main house. Every so often, the figure glanced down at the bundle in their arms, breathing as quietly as possible. After what seemed like an eternity, they finally reached the door of the main house.
A sharp voice rang out from inside. “You useless lot! You couldn’t even keep track of a child. What good are you?”
“Please don’t be angry, Gonggong. So what if the child is lost? He’s just an unloved prince. Even if he dies, no one will care.”
“What do you know?” The sharp voice was followed by the sound of a slap. “Even if he’s unloved, he’s still a prince. You never know, he might turn his fortunes around one day.”
“Be careful not to go too far, or you might regret it later.” The speaker had spent many years in the palace, witnessing and hearing all sorts of things. He’d seen plenty of cases where someone initially overlooked eventually rose to power.
“We serve the Fourth Prince now. No matter how unloved he is, he’s still our master.”
“Yes, you’re right, Gonggong.”
“Good. Remember, in the palace, never underestimate anyone. Now, go and find that child!”
Outside, the small figure listening to the conversation curled their lips into a mocking smile. Master? A person thrown into the Cold Palace at birth, it’s amusing that someone still considers him a master.
