Young Miss from the Feng Family - FJXM Chapter 24
“Damn, he’s really got no humanity,” Feng Jiu Ge muttered to herself.
“Jiu Ge, I found a hot spring in the back mountains. Want to check it out?” Xiao Mingyu suggested, his tone full of excitement.
“Really? A hot spring?” Feng Jiu Ge, who had been lying on her bed like a corpse, suddenly sat up, only to wince in pain as her muscles protested. She immediately regretted the abrupt movement.
“Ouch, my back!” She groaned and then lay back down, her enthusiasm evaporating as quickly as it had come. “Forget it, you go ahead. I’m not up for it.” She sighed inwardly, wishing she could rewind time a few months and reconsider her decisions.
“Xiaowei, get a bath barrel ready for me. I can’t sleep like this, smelling all gross and sweaty,” she instructed, feeling utterly defeated.
Sitting in the warm bath, Feng Jiu Ge finally felt somewhat human again. As she contemplated the arduous days ahead, she knew she had to come up with a plan. If things continued like this for three months, she might not die, but she’d definitely lose a few layers of skin.
For the first time in her life, Feng Jiu Ge woke up early of her own accord.
“Xiaowei, is everything ready?”
“Yes, Young Master,” Xiaowei replied, entering with a food box, though a flicker of hesitation crossed her face. “But, Young Master, is this really a good idea?”
“What’s so bad about it? It’s just a little something to give people a stomachache. Honestly, I’m being quite merciful.”
“But…”
“No buts!” Feng Jiu Ge cut her off. “Now, I’ll deliver this to the War King. You, on the other hand, sneak this into the kitchen and mix it into the food.” Xiaowei, holding the laxative, could only sigh in resignation.
“Mu Qingshi, on my way here, I ran into a little maid who was feeling unwell, so I offered to bring breakfast for her,” Feng Jiu Ge said, masking her true intentions with a smile.
“Is the Wangye here? I’d like to bring the food in myself,” she added, though she had no intention of directly facing the War King. He seemed like the type to be constantly on guard against being tricked, given how often he likely had been in the past. Mu Qingshi, however, seemed more approachable.
“Leave it to me,” Mu Qingshi said, taking the food box.
“Your body can handle this, right?” Mu Qingshi asked, looking concerned at how frail Feng Jiu Ge seemed. She looked weaker than some of the servant girls.
“I’m fine. I can handle it!” she replied, putting on a brave face. “I still need to get to the training grounds, so I’ll be going now.” From a distance, Feng Jiu Ge watched with satisfaction as Mu Qingshi carried the food inside, a smirk playing on her lips.
“Xiaowei, how did it go?”
“All set, Young Master,” Xiaowei confirmed.
“Great, let’s head to the training grounds!” Feng Jiu Ge’s mood was uncharacteristically upbeat. She could hardly wait to see the chaos unfold.
“Jiu Ge, why are you so happy today?” Xiao Mingyu asked as they did push-ups together.
“I’m just in a good mood,” she replied nonchalantly.
No sooner had she spoken than a commotion broke out. Everyone in the training grounds—both the trainers and the trainees—suddenly bolted towards the exits.
“What’s going on?” Xiao Mingyu asked, puzzled. Feng Jiu Ge looked at him with a curious expression. “Did you skip breakfast today?”
“Yeah, I woke up late, so I didn’t eat.”
“Well, aren’t you lucky,” she said, patting his shoulder. This guy had dodged a bullet.
“What’s the matter?” Leng Tian Ao asked, arriving back from the morning court session only to find that every latrine in the manor was occupied.
“Your Highness, it seems everyone got food poisoning,” the steward replied, clutching his stomach before making a beeline for the nearest latrine.
Leng Tian Ao frowned. Nearly everyone in the manor had fallen ill—this was no ordinary incident.
With the training grounds now deserted, Feng Jiu Ge relaxed in a lounge chair, sipping tea and enjoying the peace. “Ah, this is the life,” she sighed contentedly.
“Gu Jiu Ge, the Wangye wants to see you,” a servant suddenly announced.
“Wants to see me? What for?” Feng Jiu Ge reluctantly got up. She had just begun to enjoy this rare moment of tranquility.
“You’ll find out when you get there.”
As Feng Jiu Ge slowly made her way to the War King’s quarters, she couldn’t help but worry. Did he suspect her? Had she somehow left a clue behind?
