Young Miss from the Feng Family - FJXM Chapter 25
Inside the study.
Xiao Wei knelt on the ground, trembling with her head lowered.
“Why has the Prince summoned me?” The moment Feng Jiu Ge saw Xiao Wei, she knew their plan had been exposed. But who was she? She was Feng Jiu Ge—there was no way she would admit to anything so easily.
“Prince, what has my maid done to deserve being forced to kneel?”
Long Tian Ao raised his head slightly. “Feng Jiu Ge, do you admit your guilt?”
“Guilt? Your Highness, are you joking? I’ve been dutifully training in the manor; what crime could I have committed?”
Facing Long Tian Ao, Feng Jiu Ge showed no fear. This made the Prince take notice—perhaps this young master from the countryside was more than he seemed.
“Then it must be this little maid of yours who acted on her own.”
“Take her away. Lock her in the dungeon.”
“W-wait!”
“What has my maid done to deserve being thrown into the dungeon?”
“She put laxatives in the food of everyone in the manor. What do you think about that?” Long Tian Ao’s voice was calm, almost leisurely.
“That’s impossible, Your Highness. You must be mistaken.”
“Xiao Wei, did you do such a thing?” Feng Jiu Ge and Xiao Wei exchanged a quick glance, and Xiao Wei caught on.
“No, Young Master, I would never put laxatives in everyone’s food!” After spending so much time with Feng Jiu Ge, Xiao Wei had become quite adept at handling such situations.
“The evidence is clear. This morning, no one but your maid entered the kitchen. If she didn’t do it, who did? Don’t bother denying it.”
“Perhaps those who fell ill have weak constitutions. After all, Your Highness ate the same food, didn’t you? And nothing happened to you. Even Xiao Mingyu was unaffected. How could it be the food?”
“Feng Jiu Ge makes a good point,” Mu Qing chimed in. “I ate the same breakfast and was perfectly fine.”
“I think there’s been a misunderstanding. Tian Ao, why not let them go?” Mu Qing subtly patted Long Tian Ao on the shoulder.
Long Tian Ao gave Mu Qing a long look before responding slowly.
“Fine, you may go for now.”
“What’s wrong?” Long Tian Ao asked Mu Qing, sensing there was more to come.
“This morning’s meal was personally delivered by Feng Jiu Ge. Since neither of us was affected, I think I understand why he did it.”
“If you want to deal with a problem, you have to address the root cause.” A calculating smile curled at Mu Qing’s lips.
Feng Jiu Ge, who had been looking forward to a day off, had just settled into bed when she was suddenly awakened with bad news.
“What? The entire manor is sick, and we still have to train?”
Long Tian Ao really was cold and ruthless! Her plan had completely backfired!
Another day passed.
Feng Jiu Ge was utterly exhausted. When would this nightmare end?
“Xiao Mingyu, do they check headcounts at the training grounds?” Feng Jiu Ge asked, already formulating a new plan as she glanced at the mass of people.
“Check headcounts? Here at the Prince’s manor? Who would dare skip out on training?” That meant a few people could slip away unnoticed.
“Mingyu, come here.”
Xiao Mingyu looked puzzled. “What’s up?”
An hour later.
Feng Jiu Ge strolled through the marketplace, taking in the sights. Beside her, Xiao Mingyu was noticeably anxious.
“Jiu Ge, we should head back! If the Prince finds out we’ve left, who knows what will happen?”
After all, Xiao Mingyu wasn’t brave enough to cross Long Tian Ao.
