Young Miss from the Feng Family - FJXM Chapter 26
“Don’t worry. With so many people at the training ground, no one will notice we’re gone.” Returning to training? Not a chance.
“Hey, look, there’s something happening up ahead! Let’s go check it out!”
Xiao Mingyu watched as Feng Jiu Ge dashed into the crowd, feeling helpless but following anyway.
“That’s Li Gongzi!”
“Who’s Li Gongzi?” Feng Jiu Ge asked, glancing at the man playing the qin on the stage. She couldn’t help but marvel at the number of handsome men she had encountered recently, each with a different charm.
“You don’t know Li Gongzi?” Xiao Mingyu said excitedly.
“Li Gongzi is the top qin master of Tianxia First Pavilion. People would pay a fortune just to hear him play. Last year, on the Emperor’s birthday, everyone wanted Li Gongzi to perform, but he refused!”
“Such defiance. Doesn’t he fear the Emperor’s wrath?”
“He probably has some powerful backing.” Xiao Mingyu seemed more interested in the performance than the politics, his eyes glowing as he watched the man on stage. “I never thought I’d get to hear Li Gongzi play in person.”
“Why don’t we find a spot to sit and enjoy it?”
Munching on sunflower seeds and sipping tea while listening to the melody, Feng Jiu Ge had to admit the music was truly beautiful.
“What’s Li Gongzi’s real name?”
“No one knows. People just call him Li Gongzi. His real name is a mystery.”
It seemed he was a man with a story. The music was indeed captivating, but Feng Jiu Ge noticed something odd. “The performance is over, so why aren’t people leaving?”
“Oh, after Li Gongzi finishes, he usually picks someone from the audience to perform a duet with him. That’s why all these people are still here.”
“Hey, hey! He’s about to choose someone for the duet!”
“Pick me! Pick me!” Feng Jiu Ge cringed at the sight, the scene reminiscent of modern-day fans at a celebrity concert.
“Do you know how to play any instruments?”
“Nope!”
“Then why are you so eager to be picked?”
“Standing next to Li Gongzi would be amazing!”
“You’re not… by any chance… into men, are you?” Feng Jiu Ge teased, glancing at Xiao Mingyu. This was starting to feel a bit like something more than admiration.
Just as Feng Jiu Ge was lost in her thoughts, a voice called out.
“We invite this young master to join us.”
“Hey, hey, hey! Jiu Ge, Jiu Ge, it’s you! They picked you!” Xiao Mingyu’s excitement was palpable as all eyes turned to Feng Jiu Ge. A sense of dread washed over her. Sure enough, someone came to escort her to the stage.
“Do I have to?” Feng Jiu Ge really didn’t want to participate in a duet.
“Jiu Ge, go on! And while you’re at it, get me an autograph!”
With so many people watching, it wouldn’t be right to refuse. Besides, Li Gongzi seemed to have a large fanbase. Feng Jiu Ge didn’t want to end up on their bad side.
“Alright, fine!”
In another room.
“Well, Your Highness, it seems your training ground rules need revising.” Mu Qing observed Feng Jiu Ge from a distance, clearly amused. Who would have thought someone dared to sneak out right under the War Prince’s nose?
“Shouldn’t that be your responsibility?” Long Tian Ao responded coolly.
“Fine, I’ll make sure to fix it.” Mu Qing sighed, muttering under his breath about working under someone so strict.
“Li Gongzi, the young master has arrived.”
“Li Gongzi.” Up close, Feng Jiu Ge’s suspicions deepened. This face looked all too familiar.
“Please, have a seat. May I ask for your name, young master?”
“I’m Jiu Ge.” Feng Jiu Ge replied, studying the man’s face, trying to decipher something from his expression. But in the end, she came up with nothing.
“Jiu Ge Gongzi, what instrument would you like to play?”
“The flute, I suppose.”
“Please, choose a piece you’d like to play.”
