Young Miss from the Feng Family - FJXM Chapter 27
As soon as the melody flowed from Feng Jiu Ge’s lips, a subtle flicker passed through Li Gongzi’s eyes. The beautiful tune echoed throughout the room.
When the song ended, Li Gongzi asked, “Where did you learn this song, Jiu Ge Gongzi?”
“I heard it by chance. I didn’t expect Li Gongzi to know it as well.”
“It’s quite lovely.”
“Your flute is well-made and beautiful,” Feng Jiu Ge remarked, handing the flute back to Li Gongzi.
Li Gongzi smiled gently, “If Jiu Ge Gongzi doesn’t mind, consider it a gift.”
“Thank you,” Feng Jiu Ge accepted without hesitation.
“Li Gongzi, about your leg…”
“It was injured in an accident when I was young.”
“I’m sorry.”
“There’s no need for apologies. I’ve grown accustomed to it over the years.”
“It’s been a pleasure meeting you, Jiu Ge,” Li Gongzi’s gaze softened as he looked at Feng Jiu Ge.
“Likewise.”
Just as Feng Jiu Ge stood up to leave, she suddenly froze, her face paling in an instant. Embarrassed, she sat back down.
“Um, Li Gongzi, could I ask you for a favor?” Feng Jiu Ge asked awkwardly.
Before she could even finish her request, Li Gongzi had already given instructions.
Hearing Li Gongzi’s words, Feng Jiu Ge’s face flushed with embarrassment. She had completely forgotten about her time of the month—what a mortifying situation.
After freshening up, Feng Jiu Ge glanced at Li Gongzi. “How did you realize I’m a woman?” she asked. This was the first time someone had recognized her gender so quickly after such a brief interaction.
“When you’ve met enough people, you learn to tell.”
“I’m sorry,” Feng Jiu Ge apologized, still feeling the sting of embarrassment over her situation.
“There’s no need for apologies,” Li Gongzi replied calmly.
Feeling sticky and uncomfortable, Feng Jiu Ge wasted no time. She took a bath, changed into clean clothes, and by the time she was done, it was already late afternoon.
Outside, Xiao Mingyu stood stiffly, not daring to move. He shot nervous glances at the two imposing figures nearby, silently praying for Feng Jiu Ge to come out quickly.
The War Prince’s gaze was fixed on the closed door, watching as someone delivered a set of clothes inside. Since then, there had been no movement. Yet the familiar tune still echoed in his mind.
“Mingyu, let’s go back,” Feng Jiu Ge said, her voice tinged with defeat as she emerged from the room. Her only thought was that she had been caught.
“Your Highness, are you here to enjoy the music too?” she asked, trying to play it cool.
The War Prince’s eyes briefly flicked to her change of clothes, his gaze turning cold. “What do you think?”
“Of course! Li Gongzi’s music is worth a fortune. Who wouldn’t seize the opportunity to hear it?” Feng Jiu Ge babbled nervously.
“So you’re saying I’m a fool?” Long Tian Ao asked icily.
“No, absolutely not! Your Highness, you said that, not me!” Feng Jiu Ge quickly backtracked.
“Mu Qing, take them back.”
Inside the room, Li Gongzi looked at the War Prince with a distant expression. “War Prince, it’s been a long time.”
“Jiu Li, I…,” The once-dominant War Prince found himself at a loss for words in front of Li Gongzi.
“War Prince, it’s best if you continue calling me Li Gongzi,” Li Gongzi replied with a cold detachment.
“Li Gongzi, what happened back then was my fault. I failed to protect Xiao Jiu, and I couldn’t save the Jin Wang Manor…” Long Tian Ao’s voice was filled with remorse.
“I understand. You were only five or six years old at the time. What could you have done?” Although his words were forgiving, the relationship between them could never return to what it once was.
“Given our current identities, it’s best that we don’t maintain any relationship. Please leave, War Prince.” Jiu Li’s tone was indifferent, his emotions well-concealed after years of practice.
Long Tian Ao pressed his lips together, wanting to say more, but was interrupted by a hurried knock on the door from outside.
