Seeing the people searching for him scatter in the distance, the Fourth Prince didn’t linger any longer. He quickly slipped into the most secluded courtyard, only then carefully placing down the bundle he had been cradling. When the cloth was unwrapped, the contents were revealed to be a baby.

The newborn child was chubby and utterly adorable. The Fourth Prince reached out and gently pinched the baby’s rosy cheeks, smiling as he spoke.

“From today onward, I will protect you.” These words, spoken with the weight of a solemn vow, were etched deeply into the Fourth Prince’s heart.

As if understanding his words, the baby in the swaddling clothes broke into a smile. The Fourth Prince smiled back, holding up a jade pendant to show the child.

“This jade pendant, little sister, was given to you by Aunt Xian. Your name is engraved on it.”

“Feng Jiugé, little sister, from now on, you’ll be called Jiugé.” The boy was not very old, only around five or six years, and was thin and small. This was Leng Tian’ao, the Fourth Prince of Tianqi, who was almost entirely forgotten by everyone.

“This is just an abandoned baby that I picked up.” Despite his young age, the aura he exuded was far from ordinary.
