Young Miss from the Feng Family - FJXM Chapter 30
“Next time, keep your distance from me!”
“Oh,” Feng Jiu Ge quickly retracted her hand from his arm, a little puzzled by how fast Long Tian Ao’s mood had shifted.
“Xiao Wei, where did Strategist Mu go? When will he be back?” After just one day, she already missed Strategist Mu. The thought of facing the War King again tomorrow was dreadful.
“Master, I’ve heard that Strategist Mu went to handle some business, but the details are unclear. However, I did hear he might be gone for a month…” Xiao Wei whispered cautiously, gauging her master’s reaction.
“A month! A whole month?!”
“Xiao Wei, I think your master is going to die here…”
“Master, your body is indeed a bit weak,” Xiao Wei replied softly.
Feng Jiu Ge pouted. Even Xiao Wei was turning against her now.
After waking up, Feng Jiu Ge walked gingerly to the dining table, her face filled with worry.
“Jiu Ge, what’s wrong?” Xiao Mingyu asked, noticing her troubled expression as she stared at her food—something that was quite unlike her.
“My arms hurt,” Feng Jiu Ge muttered. She could barely lift them.
“Jiu Ge, you look even more exhausted than before. What kind of training have you been doing?” Xiao Mingyu had already adapted to the training regimen over the past few days.
“Push-ups,” Feng Jiu Ge replied weakly.
“Those are tough, but you can’t skip breakfast. If you do, you won’t make it through the day,” Xiao Mingyu said, noticing she hadn’t touched her food. “Here, I’ll feed you.” He took a bun from his own plate and put it in his mouth, then picked up Feng Jiu Ge’s bowl.
Xiao Mingyu’s actions weren’t exactly subtle, and the two of them quickly became the center of attention. Feng Jiu Ge felt mortified, but Xiao Mingyu didn’t seem to notice at all.
“Why aren’t you drinking?” Xiao Mingyu asked.
“Are you doing this on purpose?” Feng Jiu Ge whispered, lowering her voice. Due to her small frame, she knew that many people secretly talked about her, comparing her to others. She had heard the whispers but chose to ignore them. But now, she really didn’t want to be the center of attention.
“What do you mean?” Xiao Mingyu asked, genuinely clueless.
“You’re a grown man, feeding another man porridge. What do you think people will assume if they see this?”
“Well, they’d probably think one of us was injured!” Xiao Mingyu responded confidently.
Alright, maybe it was just her mind being in the gutter.
“Fine, I’ll do it myself.”
As the days of training passed, Feng Jiu Ge gradually adjusted to the routine.
“Master, the people you sent out have returned.”
“But they couldn’t get into the War King’s Mansion because the security is too tight.”
“Looks like I’ll need to find a way to sneak out myself.”
In the War King’s study:
“Master, this Feng Jiu Ge is no simple character.”
“Our investigations revealed nothing unusual, but the Feng Jiu Ge we’ve seen is completely different from the one we’ve looked into—like they’re two entirely different people.”
Night Shadow, kneeling on the ground, spoke in a low voice. After all this time, they hadn’t uncovered anything, which meant this Feng Jiu Ge was far from simple.
“Keep digging.”
“Strategist Mu has finished his task and is on his way back.”
“Have him stop by Jinzhou on the way.”
Feng Jiu Ge, Jiu Ge…
The same name as hers.
I wonder how Xiao Jiu is doing now. A hint of warmth flashed across the man’s face.
One day, Feng Jiu Ge suddenly remembered the hot spring Xiao Mingyu had mentioned and decided to go check it out.
Now seemed like a good time, as everyone should have already gone to bed.
After a quick preparation, she headed out.
The hot spring was a natural formation, not very large, but the surrounding environment was beautiful.
After confirming that no one else was around, Feng Jiu Ge relaxed into the hot spring. The fatigue from the past few days seemed to melt away in an instant.
Unknowingly, she fell asleep.
While she slept, someone else arrived.
The War King didn’t expect to stumble upon such a scene in the middle of the night. The cool night air was starting to set in, and given how weak Feng Jiu Ge’s body was, soaking for too long could be harmful.
“Feng Jiu Ge?”
“Feng Jiu Ge!”
In her drowsy state, Feng Jiu Ge heard someone calling her. She stirred slightly, her long hair flowing in the water like a waterfall.
The War King instinctively turned his head away, alarmed.
“Feng Jiu Ge!” His voice rose, finally jolting Feng Jiu Ge awake.
She froze for a moment as she took in the situation, feeling slightly annoyed at herself for being so careless. Fortunately, given the distance, the War King likely hadn’t seen her face clearly.
The combined warmth of the hot spring and the cool night air made her features seem blurry and indistinct.
Feng Jiu Ge quickly devised a plan. She retrieved a human skin mask from her belongings and put it on. After picking up her clothes and draping them over herself, she slowly stepped out of the hot spring.
“Are you calling me, little brother?” The voice that emerged was sultry, with a seductive tone that bore little resemblance to Feng Jiu Ge’s usual voice.
“Little brother, you must have the wrong person. I’m not called Feng Jiu Ge.” As she spoke, the woman’s voice drew closer, and the War King could almost feel her approaching step by step.
“Who are you, and why are you in my War King’s Mansion?” The War King didn’t turn around. Feng Jiu Ge raised an eyebrow, surprised by his gentlemanly demeanor.
“Aren’t you going to turn around and take a look at me, Your Highness?” Feng Jiu Ge knew she had to make him look at her now, or else he would continue to suspect her.
“Night Shadow!” The War King didn’t want to engage with her and gave a low command.
“Yes, Master.”
“Take this woman away.”
“Aren’t you afraid I might be an ugly monster if you don’t take a look at me, little brother?”
The woman moved closer, her scent faintly wafting over. The War King’s body stiffened.
“What did you do to me?” He realized he couldn’t move!
“All I want is for you to look at me, little brother.” Cool fingers gently lifted his chin.
The face that came into view was entirely unfamiliar, but there was no denying the woman was stunningly beautiful. Something flickered in the back of his mind, but before he could grasp it, the woman had already let go.
“Little brother, you’re quite handsome, but I don’t have time to play with you.” Feng Jiu Ge slipped away, moving so quickly that she was out of sight before anyone could react.
“Master, that was Heavenly Silk!” Night Shadow exclaimed as the War King turned, only to find the woman had vanished.
Heavenly Silk… Could it really be her?
After leaving, Feng Jiu Ge didn’t return to her room but instead left the mansion altogether.
“Master, you were right. Feng Jiu Ge isn’t in his room. I’ve brought Xiao Mingyu instead.”
Xiao Mingyu, hair disheveled, stood with his head bowed. After being dragged out of bed by Night Shadow, he had spent the entire time reflecting on whether he had done something wrong lately.
“Your Highness.”
“You’ve been sharing a dorm with Feng Jiu Ge all this time?” The War King asked before Xiao Mingyu could speak.
“Uh, yes, that’s right,” Xiao Mingyu replied, still bewildered.
