You're so sweet (GL) - Chapter 12
They returned to the apartment, and Qin Luo was truly exhausted. After taking a shower, her head hit the pillow and she immediately fell fast asleep.
When the alarm clock rang the next day, Qin Luo looked at the note ‘Get up and go to work’ on it, feeling a bit dazed.
“Luo Luo, are you going to work? Why don’t you just skip it, just play hooky, and then come out and play with me?” Xu Shaotian yawned, walked over with a pillow, and flopped onto Qin Luo’s bed.
She had been out partying all night and just got home, took a shower, and planned to sleep, but then she heard Qin Luo’s alarm clock. “Poor wage slave, you have to get up so early, spend the whole day at the company, and can’t even have a nightlife.”
“Yes, but most people in the world are wage slaves who have to go to work, Miss Xu.” Qin Luo yawned. She actually really wanted to give a thumbs up to Xu Shaotian’s words, but agreeing is agreeing, and she still had to go to work.
Money is hard to earn, and hardships are hard to bear.
She thought about it for a while on the way back. Actually, no matter what purpose Old Lady Qin and the others had, it was ultimately inseparable from the Qin family behind them, and she was indeed the Qin family’s illegitimate daughter, with half of their Qin family bl00d flowing in her veins.
In this situation, some things couldn’t be solved just by her leaving Su Jingwan’s company. Even without Su Jingwan, it would be hard to say that there wouldn’t be a Li Jingwan or a Wang Jingwan.
Old Lady Qin’s proposal to let her join the Qin family company was inherently inexplicable. There were too many possibilities involved, and truly speculating about it might take a long time to figure out.
Anyway, Qin Luo had made up her mind; she would not join the Qin family’s company. So, even if Su Jingwan was only being polite to her on the surface, as Xu Shaotian said, she would not leave JC as she wished.
Since she couldn’t be liked by the beautiful boss, then being disliked wouldn’t matter, at least it would mean Su Jingwan had a deep impression of her.
Qin Luo not only planned to stay but also planned to do her “serving tea, pouring water, and making phone calls” secretarial job well, to see how Su Jingwan could find an excuse to fire her then.
Thinking of this, Qin Luo felt as if she had been injected with energy, instantly full of drive. She lightly kicked Xu Shaotian,
“Get up, go back to your own room to sleep.” Qin Luo said as she got out of bed and quickly picked out an outfit from the dazzling wardrobe.
She chose a light green shirt and skirt. Xu Shaotian had bought this for her yesterday when they went shopping, along with several other green-themed items.
Xu Shaotian had also gotten excited after hearing that Qin Luo was going to give Su Jingwan a heads-up, and on a whim, she went and brought back so many things.
Qin Luo could already imagine what expression Su Jingwan would have when she saw her today. However, Su Jingwan didn’t know if she was pretending to be clueless or was truly naive; yesterday, she often even praised her for the nice green scarf combination, which was truly laughable.
Hmph, by wearing green clothes, she was kindly reminding her about being cuckolded. She hoped Su Jingwan wouldn’t waste her painstaking effort.
Qin Luo had originally thought that Su Jingwan, being so drunk yesterday, probably wouldn’t be able to get up for work today, but she didn’t expect that after she had been there for a while, Su Jingwan also arrived.
She was still dressed in a very professional business attire today, but a simple white shirt on Su Jingwan just made it impossible for Qin Luo to take her eyes off her.
Only Su Jingwan made her feel this way for the time being. Every time Qin Luo saw her, she would feel a pang of reluctance. What was the use of being interested in the wrong person? Not to mention that this story couldn’t develop; even if there could be some story between them, it probably wouldn’t fill a few pages.
Su Jingwan walked closer and closer. Qin Luo silently retracted her gaze, intending to continue with her work, when she heard Su Jingwan call her name.
“Secretary Qin.”
“Hmm? Yes, CEO Su, do you need something?” Qin Luo responded.
Perhaps because Qin Luo’s reply was too polite and official, she saw that Su Jingwan’s expression, standing a meter away, seemed to have undergone a slight subtle change. But only for a moment, Su Jingwan quickly returned to a cold and distant look, so fast that Qin Luo doubted if she had just seen it wrong.
“Come in for a moment.” Su Jingwan said.
“Oh.” Qin Luo answered and followed, wondering why Su Jingwan suddenly called her in. Was she going to settle accounts with her from last night? Heaven knows, Su Jingwan was the one who fell onto her last night, and she hadn’t touched her inappropriately at all; she was very honest.
She walked into Su Jingwan’s office, and Su Jingwan asked, “Did you handle the morning spreadsheet?”
“Oh, that one, yes.” Qin Luo replied. Xu Shaotian insisted on driving her to the company this morning, so she arrived at the office very early. Since she was free, and a colleague nearby was willing to help, she organized a spreadsheet while having breakfast and then sent it out via email.
She hadn’t expected Su Jingwan to see it so quickly. Of course, Qin Luo wouldn’t know that to prevent missing important work, Su Jingwan’s work email was always synchronized on both her computer and mobile phone.
As soon as Qin Luo sent it, Su Jingwan received it immediately and quickly scanned through it during the time she was stuck in traffic.
“Not bad.” Su Jingwan commented.
Qin Luo was slightly surprised, “CEO Su, are you complimenting me?”
“Yes.”
Qin Luo raised an eyebrow. This was rare; Su Jingwan actually admitted it. Just yesterday, this Su Jingwan clearly didn’t seem very satisfied with her. The meeting minutes alone were sent back several times, and she even said something about her needing to slowly learn in the company.
However, she suddenly praised her like this today. This person’s change was too great, wasn’t it? Did she drink fake alcohol yesterday and her mind was unclear?
Qin Luo couldn’t help but curl her lips and said, “Can you be more specific with the compliment?”
“Specific?”
“Ah, like what was done well, and exactly how good it was, or something like that.” Qin Luo said, then explained more seriously, “This way, I can also know where I still have shortcomings and try to do better next time. Or perhaps some tangible reward to encourage my fighting spirit.”
Su Jingwan smiled faintly, “You only filled in some data, what reward do you want?”
“Uh, that’s true, but you were the one who said I did well.” Qin Luo felt a bit dejected. It was true that a colleague gave her the spreadsheet template, and she hadn’t hidden that. Was Su Jingwan’s compliment of ‘not bad’ directed at the report and not the data she filled in?
“You filled it in well.” Su Jingwan said lightly.
“…” Well, thanks a lot then, Qin Luo suddenly wasn’t so happy anymore. How could one compliment like that? What did ‘filled it in well’ mean? She clearly put in effort, alright? A single sentence seemed to belittle much of what she had done.
Qin Luo pouted, just about to open her mouth to retort to Su Jingwan, when she heard her speak again,
“How is not important. Your ability to handle the work and submit it to me makes this compliment fitting.”
“Oh, there’s an old saying, ‘A cat that catches mice is a good cat’.” Qin Luo rather agreed with this statement. There are different ways and means to succeed in anything, and as long as it’s completed with maximum efficiency, there’s really nothing to criticize.
It must be said that Su Jingwan’s words were very pleasing to Qin Luo, and the slight annoyance she felt earlier now completely dissipated, even replaced by a hint of delight.
She smiled and continued, “Although I caught the ‘mouse’, it was also thanks to the help of a colleague from the technical department. I only know how to serve tea and water. Making spreadsheets is new to me, so he sent me a template, saving me a lot of time. CEO Su, he also deserves a ‘not bad’ from you.”
“Hmm, what the technical department submits is usually similar. I’ve complimented them before.” Su Jingwan was not surprised at all.
Hearing her say this, Qin Luo realized that Su Jingwan knew just by glancing at it that the spreadsheet had passed through a technical department colleague’s hands. Why did she call her in then, just to say these lukewarm words? She felt strange but didn’t say anything more. Since it was a rare compliment from Su Jingwan, there was no reason for her to give her a hard time.
“Come to a meeting with me later.”
While Qin Luo was spacing out, Su Jingwan suddenly said.
“Huh? What meeting? Isn’t that Lisa’s job?” As soon as Qin Luo spoke, she realized she had misspoken. Even if she thought that, she shouldn’t have said it out loud. Since she hadn’t reacted quickly enough, she could only try to salvage the situation, “Because I just started working and am not familiar with the job yet, I’m afraid of messing up important work, and that wouldn’t be good, would it?”
A hint of a smile flashed in Su Jingwan’s eyes. Her tone was calm as she said, “Yes, but she has other things to do.”
“Alright, I will bring the voice recorder and take good meeting minutes.” Qin Luo didn’t dare to ask any more questions. She finished speaking and left the office. As she opened the door and walked out, she seemed to carry out a faint scent of Su Jingwan’s perfume in the air.
The only bad thing now was probably having to spend time with Su Jingwan day in and day out. Even knowing that the other person was already taken, she still couldn’t help but want to get closer to this person. What should she do?
Just after Qin Luo left, Su Jingwan called the head of the technical department on the internal line, verbally praised a certain colleague in the technical department for their good virtue of being helpful, and added several more tasks for them, telling them to continue working hard and not disappoint the company’s expectations of them.
Qin Luo naturally did not know about any of this. She hadn’t been sitting for long when Su Jingwan called her on the internal line and asked her to come out.
“Wait a moment, let me order lunch for the colleagues first.”
“This task has been removed from your work duties. Furthermore, we are going out to eat today. We leave now.” Su Jingwan said.
“Oh, oh, okay.” Since everything was arranged, Qin Luo didn’t have time to say anything.
She originally thought that this outing was to have a meal with some boss, but unexpectedly, it was just the two of them. Su Jingwan led her into a restaurant with an antique atmosphere, where every seat was separated and concealed by exquisite and beautiful screens.
They were seated by the waiter. Qin Luo asked, “Just the two of us eating?”
Why the rush to leave then? It almost made her forget to bring the voice recorder, and it wasn’t even a meal with a boss. This truly surprised and somewhat flattered Qin Luo.
“In a sense, it’s not just two people,” Su Jingwan said.
“Ah? But there really are only the two of us here?” Qin Luo looked left and right. There were only two seats and only two sets of tableware. If there were a third person, where would they sit?
