You're so sweet (GL) - Chapter 21
Xu Shaotian rushed back late that night and burst into Qin Luo’s room, insisting on dragging her up for questioning.
Qin Luo hadn’t been asleep anyway, so she recounted the story of Su Jingwan helping her out in detail.
“That’s how it happened, so the car is with her,” Qin Luo said.
“What is all this? I thought you two were secretly seeing each other and hiding it from me,” Xu Shaotian sighed, finding it a bit unbelievable. She couldn’t fathom how Qin Luo and Su Jingwan had ended up like this—a friendly superior-subordinate relationship? It seemed too far-fetched.
How could they be secretly seeing each other? All she had learned these past few days was that Su Jingwan wasn’t as aloof as she thought, but every time she acted cute and tested the waters, Su Jingwan remained unmoved. They had absolutely no romantic involvement, okay?
Qin Luo yawned, “Don’t overthink it. How about you guys earlier?”
“Speaking of which, I seriously suspect Su Jingwan is frigid. She truly has no emotions towards your brother, Qin Ziyuan. She didn’t even get close to him the whole time; only that waiter was busy attending to him.”
Xu Shaotian unwrapped a hot bowl of congee and placed it in front of Qin Luo. “Also, I left right after you, and I went to get you some late-night food. I don’t know where she ran off to.”
Qin Luo blinked. Su Jingwan really went back. This behavior might be strange for others, but coming from Su Jingwan, it seemed somewhat normal.
Su Jingwan was inherently someone who didn’t play by the rules, a fact Qin Luo deeply realized. But did she really have no feelings for Qin Ziyuan? Not necessarily. Perhaps her way of expressing it was just slightly different. After all, when the waiter mentioned that Su Jingwan was Qin Ziyuan’s fiancée, Su Jingwan didn’t object.
That was also a fact.
Xu Shaotian said, “Anyway, I don’t understand her. But that waiter, oh, he had an appearance that made one want to torment him. Even though I yelled at him, I actually found him quite cute.”
“You have the nerve to say that. He probably thinks you’re a female hooligan,” Qin Luo said, speechless. The waiter was worried about Qin Ziyuan, while Xu Shaotian acted like a female pervert.
“It was so interesting! You weren’t there, or you would have seen his expression. Oh, right. The private detective I hired to look into what you asked me to check almost got caught after only finding a little bit of information.”
Speaking of this, Xu Shaotian’s expression became somewhat serious.
“What?” Qin Luo put down her spoon and frowned, “Someone is watching this?”
“Yeah, I was going to tell you today. It’s really strange. I don’t know if Qin Ziyuan is behind it, but don’t worry, it’s been sorted out.” Xu Shaotian briefly explained the situation.
Qin Luo pondered for a moment, “Mm, it’s not necessarily him.”
More than Qin Ziyuan, she suspected that many things were linked to Old Madam Qin, but she still knew too little at the moment. “Tian Tian, let’s wait a while longer before investigating again. The more suspicious this is, the more cautious we need to be. Someone watching means at least my direction is right.”
“So annoying. You say the person is dead. Could there still be some conspiracy? Anyway, don’t worry. I’ll arrange it carefully and let you know when there’s a result,” Xu Shaotian said.
Qin Luo nodded.
The next day, Qin Luo still went to work. Since her car wasn’t there, Xu Shaotian volunteered to drive her.
As soon as Qin Luo arrived at the company, a colleague next to her glanced at her and asked if she was feeling better.
Qin Luo was stunned. How did the other person know she…
Perhaps noticing her slight change in expression, the colleague explained, “I was working overtime yesterday. President Su came in and asked if I had any sanitary pads, so I also gave her my hand warmer.”
They originally thought something was wrong with President Su, but after seeing Qin Luo and President Su walk out of the restroom together, and Qin Luo’s face being extremely pale, they realized it was Qin Luo who was genuinely unwell.
“Thank you, I’m much better now.”
Qin Luo then realized that those items yesterday were not bought by Su Jingwan but ‘scavenged’ from the company. No wonder the hand warmer was already unwrapped and charged, and the other items too…
“By the way, whose is this?” Qin Luo took out the washed thermos cup from the bag and asked.
“That’s President Su’s,” the colleague recognized it with a glance.
This thermos cup belonged to Su Jingwan? She not only lent her a scarf but also her thermos cup. A thermos cup is also a very personal item. Wouldn’t Su Jingwan feel awkward?
If Su Jingwan were single, Qin Luo would suspect that this person also had a good impression of her. Unfortunately, Su Jingwan couldn’t be. Looking at it from another angle, maybe she was just being kind.
Qin Luo silently placed the thermos cup on the table, thought for a moment, and put it back in the bag. She ordered the same style of cup and hand warmer online, planning to give the new ones back to Su Jingwan and the other colleagues later.
She was going to thank Su Jingwan in person when she saw her later, but instead of Su Jingwan, only Lisa arrived. She had returned to the company to pick up documents. When passing by Qin Luo’s desk, she handed her the car keys.
“Secretary Qin, the car keys.”
They were her car keys. Su Jingwan had given the car keys to Lisa.
Was Su Jingwan not coming to the company? Qin Luo took the car keys, having doubts but not asking them aloud. Professionally and personally, Su Jingwan was her superior, and they had no other relationship. It was not her business where Su Jingwan went.
Lisa turned to leave after handing over the car keys but paused, her gaze falling on Qin Luo’s computer screen, “President Su is not coming to the company today, and I won’t be here this afternoon either. You don’t need to work on this; just process the project data for tomorrow.”
“Understood,” Qin Luo replied with a smile.
Lisa and Su Jingwan were both not at the company. Where could they be going? It was likely for work, as Su Jingwan was a workaholic, but why didn’t they call her? Wasn’t she the secretary?
After Lisa left, Qin Luo sat down to work. Her colleagues next to her were very helpful, and with their assistance, Qin Luo quickly finished part of her work.
Although this was not the work she was interested in, she could do it well with effort. She wasn’t that bad after all.
At noon, a colleague asked Qin Luo if she wanted to order takeout together. Qin Luo was curious and leaned over to look, only to be overwhelmed by the choices.
“Is this sushi good?” Qin Luo asked.
She occasionally ordered takeout, but usually was too lazy to choose, sticking to the few places she had tried and remembered. She didn’t expect there to be so many other options, and the unit price was surprisingly cheap.
There were even full-reduction offers, and grouping orders with a bunch of people could save a lot. No wonder Su Jingwan said her previous order was expensive. However, being so cheap, Qin Luo doubted if it would be palatable.
“It’s good. You’ll know when you eat it later,” the colleague replied.
Soon, the takeout arrived. It wasn’t as delicious as what she usually ate, but it was edible. Perhaps she was just too hungry after working all morning, as Qin Luo ate happily.
Around 3 p.m., Qin Luo suddenly received a call from an unfamiliar number, with a notification below that read ‘Takeout’.
Since she missed Su Jingwan’s call before, which led to the video call with Old Madam Qin, Qin Luo had canceled the blocking function.
As for Su Jingxun, he probably gave up after not being able to reach her. Unexpectedly, not long after, another unfamiliar number called, but why was it a takeout number?
“Did you order milk tea?” The colleague next to her was quite familiar. She stood up to pour water and glanced at Qin Luo’s phone screen.
“No,” Qin Luo hung up the phone. She hadn’t bought anything. It must have been a wrong number.
She hung up and planned to go to the restroom. Just as she stood up, she heard a commotion at the entrance. It was a delivery rider, walking in with a large bouquet of roses, talking on the phone with one hand.
“Hello, sir, who are you looking for?” the receptionist asked.
“Oh, it’s a flower delivery service. Excuse me, this…” The delivery rider tucked the phone between his face and shoulder, pausing to look at the order name.
Qin Luo subconsciously turned around and saw her phone on the desk light up again. It was another unfamiliar call. She immediately felt something was amiss, quickly picked up her phone, and pressed to reject the call again.
Sure enough, the next second, she heard the delivery rider say, “The flowers for Ms. Qin Luo. I called, but she didn’t answer. Is Ms. Qin Luo here?”
“…” Qin Luo was shocked. Who was sending her flowers at this time?
The receptionist was stunned for a moment, then nodded. “Yes, please wait a moment.”
Qin Luo rushed out herself, “I am Qin Luo. Who sent these? Are you sure you didn’t make a mistake?”
She hadn’t been in J City for long, and she hadn’t been fooling around or attracting any unwanted attention recently. Who would know she worked at this company?
“No mistake. Isn’t your phone ringing?” the delivery rider said, “Miss Qin, please sign for them.”
Qin Luo looked at the large bouquet of roses, feeling completely overwhelmed by the scent. Who on earth was using such a common and vulgar trick?
Qin Luo found the card in the flowers. It had no signature, only the message: ‘Guess who I am, beautiful Miss Luo Luo.’
“…” Su Jingxun. It must be that idiot. Su Jingxun was in the J City circle, so it would be easy for him to find out about her.
Qin Luo almost couldn’t help but roll her eyes right there. She asked the delivery rider to wait and kindly asked him to help throw the flowers away.
“Wait, Secretary Qin. Your flowers are beautiful! It’s such a waste to throw them away,” the receptionist said. “Why not keep them? You can display them in the office. It’s a useful way to recycle, and they are beautiful and fragrant.”
“Then you can deal with them. Thank you,” Qin Luo thought this was also a good solution. Su Jingxun was annoying, yes, but the flowers were… so fragrant. How good would they look displayed? She didn’t know.
She left the flowers, tore up the card, threw it in the trash can, and walked out, only to hear the receptionist quietly exclaim behind her,
“One hundred and one roses. Secretary Qin’s admirer is so romantic.”
Romantic my foot. This was clearly a way to trick young girls.
That idiot Su Jingxun. How dare he pull off something like this? He better not let her catch him. Otherwise, she would definitely beat him up.
After Qin Luo came out of the restroom, she suddenly heard someone talking on the phone around the corner.
“Why should Big Sister go? Why should I go? I told you I have something important, something important! What do you mean it’s not important? I’m hanging up now.”
Qin Luo found the voice somewhat familiar, so she slightly narrowed her eyes and quietly walked over.
