You're so sweet (GL) - Chapter 7
When Lisa came in holding a box of exquisitely packaged lunch, Su Jingwan was still busy with the work at hand.
“President Su, I’ve put your lunch here.”
“Mhm.” Su Jingwan paused her work. She had been so focused on dealing with business that she hadn’t paid attention to the time; it was almost one o’clock. She suddenly remembered Qin Luo, who was outside. A look of unknown meaning flashed across her face, and she asked, “Where is the new Secretary Qin?”
“Secretary Qin went out. It seems she didn’t order her own meal and went out to eat. Do you need me to call her back?” Lisa asked.
Secretaries are generally not supposed to disappear without reason. Lisa had momentarily failed to notice when the newcomer had left. She had come in once half an hour ago, intending to tell the President that the new secretary had forgotten to order lunch, but the President was on the phone, so she hadn’t disturbed her. Unexpectedly, the meal was delivered shortly after.
“No need, you can go out,” Su Jingwan said. Her gaze fell on the lunch box on the table, recognizing the packaging from a nearby private kitchen. She had thought Qin Luo would come in and demand that she treat her to a meal. “Wait.”
“Yes?” Lisa said.
“If she comes back, have her come to my office,” Su Jingwan instructed.
“Understood, President Su.” Lisa closed the door. She then realized the President had said if she comes back, which confused her somewhat. Although Secretary Qin didn’t seem to know anything, she hadn’t thrown a tantrum. Could she really just walk off?
On Qin Luo’s side, she hadn’t gone far from the company. She had arranged to have lunch with Xu Shaotian nearby.
After all, the lunch break was minimal. Qin Luo arrived first, and shortly after she ordered, Xu Shaotian arrived wearing Qin Luo’s green body-con skirt.
Qin Luo was speechless when she saw her from afar. “Why are you still wearing that? Didn’t you wear it yesterday?”
“Yes, but I wanted us to match, like sisters! I even specifically asked a cleaner auntie to wash and iron it for me. How about it? My green skirt, your green silk scarf—we’re ‘green’ together, aren’t we?” Xu Shaotian posed suggestively, deliberately sticking out her butt.
“No thanks, I don’t want to be ‘green’ [cuckolded],” Qin Luo nearly spat out her water, laughing so hard her stomach hurt.
“Hmph. You say you chased her all the way to her company, so why is she still ignoring you?” Xu Shaotian sat down and drank some water. When she heard that Qin Luo had started working at Su Jingwan’s company, she was desperate to go see. Qin Luo had initially told her not to come, and she was disappointed after getting dressed. Who knew that shortly after, Qin Luo called her out for lunch.
“You got ready so early just to laugh at me?” Qin Luo raised a slight eyebrow. Su Jingwan wasn’t exactly ignoring her; she just seemed very busy, cooped up in her office all the time.
Qin Luo herself wanted to go bother her, but with that long list of tasks in the file, time seemed to fly by, and she hadn’t even had the chance.
And at noon, Qin Luo hadn’t expected she would have to order lunch for the entire company, and Su Jingwan actually insisted on eating her meal in the office.
Is this person deliberately avoiding her? Qin Luo was already dizzy from tackling those tasks on her first day. Realizing this possibility made her mood indescribable, and in a moment of frustration, she just dashed out.
She had always been the one to distance herself from others when she went out to have fun. Who knew she would be avoided like the plague one day? And it wasn’t like she had done anything (to deserve it).
“I didn’t think Su Jingwan would be such a workaholic. Isn’t her Su family very rich? And your brother, doesn’t he give her money to spend?” Xu Shaotian was clearly out of the loop, failing to grasp the real point of Qin Luo’s displeasure.
“Stop yammering on. You haven’t had lunch yet, have you? Hurry up and eat,” Qin Luo said.
Xu Shaotian rested her chin on her hand. “Luo Luo, I think you shouldn’t worry about whether your brother is cuckolding her or not. The fact that she didn’t even buy you lunch today clearly shows she’s not interested in you.”
In Xu Shaotian’s view, if there was real passion, they would have hooked up long ago. There would be no talk of restraint and avoidance.
“I’m not trying to pursue her,” Qin Luo said irritably. She had the idea before, but she had given up the thought after learning about Su Jingwan’s close relationship with Qin Ziyuan. If anyone was to blame, it was Su Jingwan for being so perfectly suited to her taste that every time she saw her, she couldn’t help but… But she only ever intended to flirt and tease; she genuinely hadn’t planned to provoke her.
Su Jingwan and Qin Ziyuan have not publicly announced they are a couple yet, but based on their intimate interactions, her ability to enter and leave the Qin family freely, and her favorable status with the Old Madam, Su Jingwan, as a Su family member, is likely the best choice for the future Mrs. Qin.
Such a person is simply not from her world.
“So what are you going to do? You said the job is annoying. Just quit. Is Old Madam Qin trying to mess with you because she thinks you’re too idle? Then go hang up your name at my family’s company for her to see.”
“If I quit after just half a day, won’t that clearly be asking for trouble?” Qin Luo said unhurriedly.
She wanted to leave, but not now, and certainly not by bringing it up herself. If she announced she was leaving, who knows what the Old Madam would pull next.
She still felt that the Old Madam had some purpose, but she couldn’t figure it out. Whatever. If I can’t figure it out, I’ll just stick around for a while.
“Go back after you finish eating. I have to go back to work this afternoon,” Qin Luo decided. She needed to go back to work and cause a little ruckus to make the Old Madam think she was a lost cause, so she wouldn’t try to scheme against her anymore.
“Huh?” Xu Shaotian originally wanted to ask Qin Luo to go to a new place to have fun, but she was ruthlessly rejected before she could even ask.
