You're so sweet (GL) - Chapter 9
After her first day of work, Qin Luo was already mentally and physically exhausted. Who said it was just serving tea, pouring water, and answering phones?
By the time work ended, she had revised the meeting minutes a total of four times. The last few times were reviewed by Lisa because Su Jingwan was busy.
In short, it was completely different from the job she had imagined. She was truly annoyed to death.
—So, is it because you offended the Great Beauty that she’s doing this on purpose?
Her phone vibrated a few more times, and the message from Xu Shaotian appeared on the screen.
Lisa, who was explaining the work content to her, didn’t even glance at the phone. “Secretary Qin, do you still have time to listen?”
Qin Luo quickly silenced her phone and shoved it into her bag. “Yes, yes, please continue.”
She couldn’t help being embarrassed. Mainly because her phone had vibrated several times since Lisa walked over. There were WeChat messages and phone calls, and she didn’t know which brat was calling her at this hour; it was truly toxic.
Actually, it was already after work hours. She was about to leave, but Lisa walked over to discuss tomorrow’s work content with her.
Perhaps seeing how confused she looked, Lisa simply explained each item. Qin Luo wasn’t exactly keen on doing this job; she was hoping to stir up some trouble and then run away.
But she just couldn’t stand Su Jingwan’s demeanor, which suggested she thought Qin Luo was completely incompetent.
So, she was determined to show Su Jingwan that she was only choosing not to do something, not that she couldn’t do it well, even if the tasks were entirely new to her.
“Contact Secretary Li from Leyu Company in the morning. The content in the parenthesis is about understanding the cooperation project—what does this mean? What cooperation project? Leyu is an entertainment company with many celebrities. Does choosing artists for commercials and things like that need to be handled by President Su…?”
Qin Luo was a little surprised. What were all those employees hired for? Couldn’t they handle it?
Lisa paused, “The company owner has scheduled meetings with the President several times, and this time, the President needs to politely decline the invitation. The cooperation project is just a pretense, but you need to roughly organize a document about it.”
Qin Luo suddenly understood, “Oh, I see.”
Su Jingwan, as the boss, handles countless daily affairs, and many projects are only known in general terms. However, when meeting with other company owners, one should discuss some ‘common topics,’ such as collaboration projects between the two companies.
It doesn’t need to be too detailed; occasionally mentioning it shows the other party that you value them as a partner and are serious about the collaboration.
Lisa nodded, thinking Qin Luo was quite smart. Although she was a sudden appointment (airborne), and her work efficiency was low, she wasn’t un-trainable.
Qin Luo drew a circle around the “cooperation project” and then looked up at Lisa,
“Um, how many cooperation projects are there?”
“There are three colleagues responsible for these projects. You can liaise with them tomorrow,” Lisa said, pointing to the seating chart pasted in front of the computer. The person corresponding to each desk was written there.
She took a pencil from the pen holder and circled three desks. Then she praised, “This is a good method. You did very well to recognize everyone in the office on your first day.”
“Hehehe, not bad, not bad,” Qin Luo laughed, accepting the compliment.
This was Qin Luo’s doing—or, more accurately, when Qin Luo was trying to figure out who to ask for photocopies and who to ask for office supplies, she asked an enthusiastic male colleague who was good at making charts to help her put this together.
There was even a detailed digital version that listed every colleague’s position and job duties.
Thanks to that male colleague, but this was Qin Luo’s own idea. She was too lazy to remember classmates’ names when she was in school and came up with this method, though it became useless after college.
Who knew that in college, they wouldn’t even share the same classroom, and would often have several classes attending lectures together? Every time someone greeted her, she would be completely confused, either not remembering their name or mixing them up.
With everything finally settled, Lisa left for the day. Qin Luo grabbed her bag and rushed to the restroom, deliberately glancing at Su Jingwan’s office. She was indeed still there.
Should I go over and say something? Could she ask her out for dinner? Su Jingwan would likely not have dinner with her. And considering today’s situation, Qin Luo was honestly perplexed. You need the cold butt to be willing to be attached to the hot face!
Qin Luo decided to think about it and headed to the restroom first.
In the restroom, Qin Luo took out her phone. There was a stack of missed calls and text messages, a dozen missed calls from unknown numbers. Who was calling her? Was it a delivery?
She opened the text messages, and her face darkened. It was that annoying Su Jingxun, her cousin. She had already blocked him, and the last time he promised not to contact her again, but here he was, coming back with a new number.
—Stop bothering me, or I’ll have someone beat you up, I’m telling you.
Qin Luo wouldn’t actually have anyone beat him up, but a threat was necessary. It wasn’t that Su Jingxun wasn’t handsome, but Qin Luo was naturally gay and simply didn’t like men. Su Jingxun was not in her frame of consideration at all.
Speaking of which, they both share the name ‘Su Jing.’ Why couldn’t Su Jingwan learn from her cousin? If Su Jingwan’s attitude had been a little better, they could be on their honeymoon right now.
Of course, that was just a thought. There was Qin family and Qin Ziyuan separating them. She was just venting.
When she came out, Qin Luo immediately saw Su Jingwan talking on the phone in the corridor. She quickly retreated to the corner and heard Su Jingwan say,
“It’s fine. I see she’s adapting quite well, and hasn’t made a fuss. The Old Madam hasn’t called me. Hmm, not necessarily. I understand.”
Qin Luo didn’t intentionally eavesdrop. She was planning to compose herself and then shamelessly run in to interrupt Su Jingwan, but she happened to hear what Su Jingwan was saying.
It sounded like she was talking to Qin Ziyuan, and it was possible the Old Madam would call in a moment. See? The Qin family insisting on finding her a job was clearly ill-intentioned; they were monitoring her every move in secret.
What was the point of all this?
Qin Luo almost rolled her eyes. The most important thing was, what was so great about that Qin Ziyuan? He was already cuckolding Su Jingwan, and Su Jingwan could tolerate it.
Where do they find such silly girls? Why couldn’t she be given such a beautiful and silly girl? God truly had no eyes.
Just as Qin Luo was fuming, she heard Su Jingwan in the corridor turn and say toward her direction,
“Have you heard enough?”
Was she found out? Qin Luo was stunned. She quickly rubbed her face with her hands, then walked out from behind the door with a beaming smile, saying sweetly to Su Jingwan, “I wasn’t listening! I just happened to be passing by and wanted to give you a surprise.”
A faint hint of amusement seemed to flash in Su Jingwan’s eyes, but when Qin Luo ran forward, all she saw was a beautiful face as pristine as jade and frost.
I really want to kiss her. It’s so annoying that I can look but not touch.
“Since you’ve given it, aren’t you going?” Su Jingwan asked.
“Huh? Oh.” Qin Luo found Su Jingwan’s way of speaking rather… taxing to understand. But after answering, she raised an eyebrow, “So you mean you were very surprised to see me, right?”
Su Jingwan didn’t respond this time. She turned and walked back, “It’s after work.”
Qin Luo, whose mood was greatly improved after successfully teasing the beauty, quickly followed her, rambling, “It’s been after work for a long time! I specifically worked overtime until now just to give you this surprise. I know you’re very happy, but it’s okay if you don’t say it. As long as you’re happy, I’m happy.”
Su Jingwan tilted her head slightly, “That’s wrong. You weren’t working overtime for me. The daily work is fixed. Unless there’s a special assignment, most normal people can leave on time.”
“That sounds a bit offensive. Are you saying I’m abnormal as a person or abnormal in my intentions?”
It wouldn’t be right to say Qin Luo was completely unaffected by criticism, but while Su Jingwan’s tone was genuinely flat, she was now speaking many more words than before. Thus, Qin Luo was always more excited when chatting with her.
Ordinary words sounded incredibly interesting, and she was very happy to keep the banter going. This was probably because her goodwill toward Su Jingwan was high, leading to a ‘filter’ effect.
However, this realization only dawned on Qin Luo after she got home. At this moment, she just thought Su Jingwan was quite funny.
She smiled playfully, running a hand through her hair. “I admit my intentions might be abnormal. After all, the love of beauty is common to all. No one can remain calm and pure in the face of such beauty. As for whether I am normal, President, you can check me anytime.”
Qin Luo edged closer, intentionally or unintentionally brushing against Su Jingwan’s arm, which was hanging by her side.
Go ahead and complain! The awkward but hardworking bastard daughter of the Qin family is a temptress trying to seduce the future Mrs. Qin! When the future Mrs. Qin is wronged, the Qin family should surely throw a fit and banish the bastard daughter to a desolate place.
Qin Luo thought that the label “temptress” suited her quite well and was acceptable.
“You should indeed go for a check-up. Employees are required to submit a physical examination form upon joining,” Su Jingwan said, her expression unchanged, completely oblivious to being harassed.
She wants me to get a doctor’s check-up? This Su Jingwan’s way of speaking was truly… something else. Qin Luo gritted her teeth, fueled by a never-say-die attitude. She continued playing with her hair and blinking, determined to lead the conversation toward the inappropriate.
“Oh dear, I’m so good. I have a physical exam twice a year, so don’t worry.”
Good? If she’s good, would she kiss people she meets in a bar? Su Jingwan’s eyes flickered slightly, but this time, she chose not to respond to Qin Luo.
She walked into the elevator, and Qin Luo quickly hurried in after her, even doggedly following her to the parking lot.
“It’s so late. Could you give me a ride?”
“My place isn’t far from here, and I haven’t eaten yet.”
“You’re wasting a chance to give a beauty a ride if you don’t take it.”
Qin Luo talked for a long time, but Su Jingwan remained silent. Qin Luo was frustrated. This was truly the first time she had met such a cold girl. Girls were supposed to be sweet and soft. Why was Su Jingwan so difficult to crack?
So annoying!
